Republicans were SO wrong

who ran the country when we had the last two major crashes in the economy?

A Democrat in 1929, another in 1972-74, and Bush oversaw the most recent one in 2008 (but I must remind you that Democrats held both houses of congress when the economy crashed that year).

Come on Templar, truth doesn't matter to truthmatters.

Truthfully, I was being facetious. And two Republicans were president during the great crash of 1929. But the caveat here is that they were Progressive Republicans. It seems the Party learned their lessons about progressivism afterwards and ditched the tag.

....when those of us who lived through the Jimmy Carter years thought that it couldn't possibly get any worse.

I didn't realize you were struggling so much. I'm sorry to hear that. Now get off your lazy butt and get a job.

You mean the time when a man could raise a family buy a house, 2 cars and put his kids through college? Yes...that was horrible. You can't blame Obama for 30 years of Reaganomics.[/QUOTE]

You know, I was living that dream for the last 30 years until mid-2012 when our household income dropped 6 figures under Obama's administration and economy. Our son is finishing his last years of college on student loans because we can no longer afford it and we are putting our house up for sale and having to downsize. Viva change and hope to fundamentally change America. Yes we can!

What Democrat was running the country in the crash of 1929?

Right, Herbert Hoover and Calvin Coolidge were both Republicans. But they were progressives, or what you Lefties call yourselves. Remember, Progressives. Should speak to the flaws of such an ideology. Oh by the way, I was doing my best TM impression.

So...since they were progressives you call them Democrats? Kind of weird thinking.

and you think no republican is on that list?

Bud, I've got news for you - even Nixon was a better president that Jimmy Carter. Damned sad, but true.

Carter was (at that time) was the biggest empty suit I had ever seen.....until now.

The right is downright suicidal.

Yeah, the bridges will have standing room only on the day after you democrats get your asses kicked in the upcoming elections.

Do us a favor. When YOU jump, try not to land on any of your liberal friends...don't want anything breaking your fall :D

Sure, and I bet you probably felt that way after Nate Silver predicted a Republican takeover of the Senate. You know who Nate Silver is, correct?

And I have been predicting the likelihood of this since mid-January, 2014, right here in USMB. And I am a Democrat. Such a strong electoral history is hard to negate and people are creatures of habit.

I absolutely agree the people are "creatures of habit" and that alone would make me believe that the sitting president's party (more importantly - a lame duck) would lose in November. Makes perfect sense and is backed up by fact.

The thing that turns "belief" into "certainty" is Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and Barry himself.

Actions have consequences. It's time for Obama, Reid and Pelosi to be sent to the trash heap of history - and even THAT is too good for them.

And it's time for them to ADMIT they have screwed things up, and it isn't working rather than pointing the boney finger of indignation, demonizing the TRUTH. In any event? The truth is catching up to them, and it's gonna bite their asses hard.
