Retailers have had enough

Lying asshole.

It's democrat governors who've kept their states on lockdown.
Democrat governors and mayors who keep states on lockdown and encourage black rioting.

No, we wouldn't be in this situation if we wouldn't have had unnecessary lockdowns. Look at the economies in democrat run states and cities. The proof is everywhere. You can deny it all you want but you're wrong.

It could simply be a phenomena in developed countries caused by the pandemic. I think the gop fucked up on covid relief early on by focusing on employers keeping zombie biz. Just "give" people aid to see them through and let the markets decide what biz lives or dies .... but McConnell/Trump don't believe in markets, unless the markets are rigged for them.

Well jobs are usually mostly where people live.

One retail research and advisory group predicts as many as 10,000 stores could be closed in the United States this year, which would set a new record. 10,000 closures would represent a 14% uptick from 2020 levels.

Fine job Democrats.

10,000 stores are expected to close in 2021, as pandemic continues to pummel retailers

Lots of businesses suffering. Landscape companies cannot get workers to work, Pinochijoe pays them more to sit at home on their pelosis. Perfect Dim world.

Not economic commerce. It was unnecessarily destroyed. "Essential", "Non essential"? Absolutely disgusting derogatory terms.

Now you're complaining that blue states have more people and fewer EVs. Shove off, matey

Our stores have been fully open here for quite a while. The people have CHOSEN to stay home.

LOL Keep lying to yourself. Your quite good at it. Even before that virus hit, nothing was going to stop it. Its a pandemic and pandemics kill and it makes no difference who is in the WH.

I live in a Red state and we are open and have been. Hell there is construction all over the place where I live and hiring signs. No problems in our schools so far.

Glad you live in a blue state. Suffer away.

Ahhh yes, the "herd mentality" approach of the Dithering Dotard and Scott Atlas. How did that work out for Sweden?

Tegnell’s prediction of a tapering epidemic curve and quickly-attained immunity never came to pass. Sweden’s per-capita case counts and death rates have been many times higher than any of its Nordic neighbors, all of which imposed lockdowns, travel bans, and limited gatherings early on. Over all in Sweden, thirteen thousand people have died from covid-19. In Norway, which has a population that is half the size of Sweden’s, and where stricter lockdowns were enforced, about seven hundred people have died. It’s likely that some simple policy changes—especially shutting down visitations to nursing homes sooner, and providing more P.P.E. and testing to nursing-home staff—would have saved lives. And the strategy doesn’t seem to have helped the economy much: the Swedish G.D.P. fell by around three per cent, better than the European average, but similar to the drop in other Nordic countries.
Fredrik Elgh, a virologist at Umeå University and one of Tegnell’s former bosses, wishes that Sweden had implemented restrictions like those used by other countries in the region. “Why don’t they go the same route as our neighbors that have been so successful?” he said. “We could have done that, too, if we had followed their path.” The fatalities in the elder homes, which account for about fifty per cent of the covid-19 deaths in Sweden, seem especially needless; if visits to these facilities had been banned sooner, if their workers had been advised to wear masks and get tested frequently, it’s possible that thousands of lives could have been saved. People from both pro- and anti-Tegnell camps believe that this was an unnecessary tragedy. (Tegnell agrees, although he does not think that the responsibility lies solely with the health agency.)
“The Swedish strategy aimed at protecting the elderly has failed,” Mats Melin, the country’s former chief justice and the current head of the government-appointed Corona Commission, told me. In December, Sweden’s King, Carl XVI Gustaf, criticized the country’s policies, telling the state broadcaster, “The Swedish people have suffered enormously in difficult conditions,” and adding that, when it came to the strategy that the country employed, “I think we have failed.” Stefan Lofven, the country's Prime Minister, told reporters, “The fact that so many people have died cannot be seen as anything else than a failure.”

what are you talking about?

And they've been open the whole time.

France has had extremely stringent lock downs.....Their numbers are worse than the swedes.

Many european nations that's true for.

And they didn't abuse their children for the good of the boomers. When are you retards giong to wake up and realize none of this policy works beyond total quarantine and shutting down borders. You cannot stop a highly communicable cold without an insane overreaction liek the Australians and New Zealanders did.

Exactly there was never any need to close businesses and cost millions of people their jobs, affecting them more severely than the virus ever would.

Yeah. I agree. My state, Florida, came back up quickly. Where I live we have construction all over the place and hiring signs out which is good to see. The schools are open and no problems that I've heard of

All State should be open cause you can bet the Governors want to get their economies up and running.
