Retailers have had enough

Any figures on when these decisions to close were made or at least announced?

No, we wouldn't be in this situation if we wouldn't have had unnecessary lockdowns. Look at the economies in democrat run states and cities. The proof is everywhere. You can deny it all you want but you're wrong.

Ahhh yes, the "herd mentality" approach of the Dithering Dotard and Scott Atlas. How did that work out for Sweden?

Tegnell’s prediction of a tapering epidemic curve and quickly-attained immunity never came to pass. Sweden’s per-capita case counts and death rates have been many times higher than any of its Nordic neighbors, all of which imposed lockdowns, travel bans, and limited gatherings early on. Over all in Sweden, thirteen thousand people have died from covid-19. In Norway, which has a population that is half the size of Sweden’s, and where stricter lockdowns were enforced, about seven hundred people have died. It’s likely that some simple policy changes—especially shutting down visitations to nursing homes sooner, and providing more P.P.E. and testing to nursing-home staff—would have saved lives. And the strategy doesn’t seem to have helped the economy much: the Swedish G.D.P. fell by around three per cent, better than the European average, but similar to the drop in other Nordic countries.
Fredrik Elgh, a virologist at Umeå University and one of Tegnell’s former bosses, wishes that Sweden had implemented restrictions like those used by other countries in the region. “Why don’t they go the same route as our neighbors that have been so successful?” he said. “We could have done that, too, if we had followed their path.” The fatalities in the elder homes, which account for about fifty per cent of the covid-19 deaths in Sweden, seem especially needless; if visits to these facilities had been banned sooner, if their workers had been advised to wear masks and get tested frequently, it’s possible that thousands of lives could have been saved. People from both pro- and anti-Tegnell camps believe that this was an unnecessary tragedy. (Tegnell agrees, although he does not think that the responsibility lies solely with the health agency.)
“The Swedish strategy aimed at protecting the elderly has failed,” Mats Melin, the country’s former chief justice and the current head of the government-appointed Corona Commission, told me. In December, Sweden’s King, Carl XVI Gustaf, criticized the country’s policies, telling the state broadcaster, “The Swedish people have suffered enormously in difficult conditions,” and adding that, when it came to the strategy that the country employed, “I think we have failed.” Stefan Lofven, the country's Prime Minister, told reporters, “The fact that so many people have died cannot be seen as anything else than a failure.”

Much better then the Dems grandma killing policies in NY.

13K? Cuomo killed 13K some days before noon....then when it came to jobs killed 10x that.

killing jobs and small business is what Dems do best...

Tragic
You might want to compare job #s for 20 and 21. Not that the dems are necessarily better on creating jobs, though they may be over the next few years, but the gop has been in power for both of the last two recessions. I'd say the one in 2000 was purely W's but no one is to blame for covid. Overall, I prefer the dems approach on relief of giving more money to all citizens rather than to just the employers.

The Swedish approach did not go well.
6-10 times the mortality rate per capita of their neighbors.
US has 4% of the world's population and 20% of the death - Not well for us either.
2/3 of those deaths can be directly attributed to the lies, inaction and bad example set by Dear Leader.
But your Cuomo dodge duly noted. ;)

That was such a bad spin job that it made
Don Lemon laugh so hard that his gerbil shot out.
By the way Biden is halting private prison use which just made 2 private prison stocks tumble 20% today not just losing jobs and regional income, but also investor's and 401k incomes.
Many of those private prisons and facilities have Latino Guards and personel as well as other minority employees and connected businesses.
If you haven't figured out why he'd do this, it's because they have more power and control with federal run prisons, especially cartel quid pro Joe favors, favors from criminals in lieu of reduced sentences, personnel can reroute funds to campaigns through added salary used to return max donations to campaigns like Joe does with his cancer fund all which goes to personnel's inflated salaries and not research, which they donated max to his and other dem campaigns.

Yet Brn Trout blames dems.

Yeah, dems are to blame for the lockdowns that killed their economies. To deny that is denying reality.

Well jobs are usually mostly where people live.

Not economic commerce. It was unnecessarily destroyed. "Essential", "Non essential"? Absolutely disgusting derogatory terms.
Now you're complaining that blue states have more people and fewer EVs. Shove off, matey

On the contrary, not at all. The economies destroyed were mainly in blue states and cities. And yes, labeling someone essential or non essential is offensive and disgusting.

I read that last year. Purely speculation because they had no idea of what could happen.

Donnie didn't botch anything. It was blue governors who insisted on shutting

everything down following the "science." The Left have wrecked the nation and

Festus is their leader.
