Rick Perry sends National Guard to border!!!

I definitely applaud the move, but it's beyond me why border states haven't been doing this all along.

Money it's going to cost an estimated 12 million a month to do this but it has reached the point where there is no choice now the federal government won't act so the states will have to. This may have a cascade effect if the illegals are having a harder time getting into Texas they will likely head for the other border states who may in turn call out the guard as well.

Who better to police the borders than those who live in the states?

Texass doesn't have the money.

Blue states will have to pay the bill.

Locals already do guard the southern border. They work for Border Patrol.

This is nothing but showing off by Perry and everyone knows it.

And they have been a bit busy latley... Right?

And Rick Perry will eventually have to explain why he spent millions of dollars to have the NG stand around.

Probably to save Billions dollars in tax payers money for the welfare that would eventually be provided to those illegals immigrants that are sneaking in our border,

Also to safe guard Americans.

Maybe but isn't that supposed to fall under the jurisdiction of the federal government? If the federal government can't or won't do it then by all means officially turn the responsibility over to the states until then they should be doing their job instead of forcing the states to do it.

Shouldn't the blue states be trying to get water into Detroit? I hear they are having problems with that I have also noticed the leaders in the blue states get a tad bitchy when the feds try and move the illegals in their city or state with no advance warning.

That takes money appropriated by Congress. The states should be reimbursed for some of the cost, but as with natural disasters, the Federal government cannot cover all the costs of any state's hazards.

Yeah but most natural disasters can't be seen coming this could and it's was coming for decades and both parties knew it and did nothing.

To the Far Right, calling the National Guard is presidential. Perry is the guy who lost his bid for president because he was soft on immigration. I guess he's showing them.

So, what will the NG be doing at the border? Shooting children?

The Texas Guard knows the land, roads, and people better than national forces obviously. As long as they are NOT using violence, the Texas Guard are the people to guard the Texas bordor. But if Perry demands Federal money, he better have a coherent reason.

The Border Patrol agents live in the areas that they patrol...they know the area just fine.

The thing is, what is the National Guard going to do...capture them after they already crossed the border and turn them over to the Border Patrol...so they go through the same process? Ok...a deterrent...so they illegals just cross at NM or another border state. This is purely a political move because there is nothing 1,000 national guard troops can actually do except capture illegals and put them into the system.

I hope not.
