Rick Perry's Chances Of Being Elected President..Going Up In Flames!

Sorry to throw cold water on the OP's point, but....

...it’s certainly possible that a Perry-Obama contest could be a very close race, and those two or three points that Perry might lose compared to a more moderate conservative nominee like Mitt Romney might well make the difference. But Perry may not really be perceived as all that extreme by next fall.

My guess is that Perry is far more of a savvy politician than a true believer, and that he’ll have a lot less trouble than some Democrats currently believe in moving to the center if he does win the nomination. My prediction is that at he’ll wind up as committed to Social Security as any other candidate, and his current crazy talk will be a lot less damaging than it seems now.

The whole thing is worth a read:

You mean he has 9,000 fires raging in his state that he can't put out and he wants to be President?

You should have higher standards.

Yeah, because he should be out there with a garden hose.

Seriously dude, grow up.

Unfortunately do to his massive budget cuts to the Forest Service, thats all most people have to defend their homes. He probably couldn't figure out how to use it.

No, he should allocate proper resources to put the fires out. That is what a governor does. Now, if you take money from Dallas and use it in Bastrip (sp?) to put out the fire there, that would be socialism I guess since Dallas isn't about to burn from the looks of the recent maps I saw. LOL.

Do you think the fires will be out by Christmas?
Uh, excuse me but, the US Forest service is funded federally.

Christ, you're a fuckin' idiot!:cuckoo:

Texas has a state Forest service. I'm sure that's what CandyCorn is referencing.

Texas Forest Service

Not only is the TFS working 24/7, they have volunteer services from as far away as California working with them. In addition, the SuperTanker from California is hard at work on the Texas fires.

Any claim that less than everything is being done to fight these fires is complete bullshit.

Bullshit spewed for partisan gain is shameful.

I think CC is referring to the Texas Forest service, which does fall under the Texas state budget. It was cut by about 55%, not the insane 75% number that dick-drips like Rdean are claiming. And that cut was about 90% waste.

Does anyone still think that idiot Perry has a chance in hell? Seriously, who here actually thinks this idiot will be 1. The republican nominee or worse 2. The president of the United States?

Bachmann has a better chance...lol or perhaps Palin? :)

Republicans, this is all you got? Obama is GUARANTEED a win in 2012! GUARANTEED!

Go fuck yourself, hack.

Is it true that idiot Perry cut fire fighting funds by 75% recently. Oh god, talk about timing.

Hell, I could beat him at this point...lol

Thats considered masturbation and the idiots on the right say that is wrong...:doubt:

Candycorn...

you are naive to the issue with brush fires...and that is OK...mosty people are.
More often than not, they are not as easy as "find them, contain them, douse them".

There are many factors involved...first and foremost....a fire is wind driven.....and in Texas winds change at the drop of a hat...so for all intents and purposes...you are dealing with a 360 degree front.

Next, in very dry conditions with strong winds, you have flying embers...that can trigger fires miles away...increasing the front to another 360 degree area.

Finally, in Texas in particular...you have unlimited fuel for the fire.....dry grass, wood galore....and open fields.....

To the contrary, the oil rig issue was quite simple...we knew where it was...it was not moving....and it was not going to catch on somewhere else....we just didnt kow what to do with it.

So for you to say the fires are easirer to "fix" than the oil rig...well....lets just say, you came across quite naive there.

No problem. Happens to all of us once in a while.

No the fires are MUCH easier to fix than an oil well blow out 2 miles below water.

Happens to you more than anybody else I know.

Really?

So...uh....are you saying that the fire fighters in Texas are inept?

Or are you saying that Perry refused to give them the tools needed to fight the fires.

I have seen fires burn all over the country...sometimes for months...are all of those fire fighters inept?

Did perry have something to do with that too?

LMAO...you are actually claiming that you know as fact that fighting a fire is MUCH easier than fixing an oil well 2 miles below the water......

SO tell me...what credentials do you have to make such an assertion?

Your arguments are weak. I am certainly saying that professionals that fight wild fires for a living are more experienced and therefore better than volunteers. What is YOUR point? Following YOUR logic there should be no effort made at all. Just let em all burn...right? I mean if the response is going to be half assed then the money spent up till now has been basically flushed down the toilet..correct? Send everyone on the fire lines home and let the chips burn as they will(AKA the will of god).

There is absolutely no point just"trying" to put out a fire. If you do not have the will nor the resources to actually put it out then you are better off notr wasting any money at all on the problem...you will surely need the money after the fires have all just burned themselves out to rebuild infrastructure.

So you think these fires cannot be put out? Either you are just plain stupid or REALLY just plain stupid.

Let's explore this logically... What if Texas paid for ten million professional fire fighters and all the equipment they needed to do the job.. How long do you think these fires would be burning?...maybe one more week tops? Do you agree with that premise? OK ..ten million is over the top..I agree...so what number would it take to do the job within one month..absolutely guaranteed? Are you following my train of thought here? So...OK...the Texass fire fighters are not complete boobs... I'll grant that...so who is in charge of seeing that there are enough men and resources to get the job done? See...I thought it was Rick Perry... But maybe I'm wrong... perhaps you could enlighten me as to who in Texass is in charge of this clusterfuck? And...explain why they have not hired AS MANY MEN AS IT TAKES TO DO THE JOB?

Oh by the way ..in response to whoever it was that suggested that inmates would be like chickens running around with their heads cut off... States already have inmate exchange programs and it would not be that hard to get a few thousand shipped in from other states where they fight fires in the wilderness frequently. My guess is that there are several hundred incarcerated in my state that have ten times the experience as Texass volunteers. The cost would be negligible. But doing something like THAT would take intelligence and LEADERSHIP.

I have to admit it made me laugh out loud and cause iced tea to run out of my nose..

I was watching the weather channel yesterday and the weather dude was standing next to a map of god ol Texass and there were little fire symbols on the map...not just a few..maybe hundreds of them..they literally COVERED the whole map of Texass.

Then it struck me like a wild fire.. This dumb ass Perry is the last man on earth I want to manage any crisis as the POTUS.

What I find astounding is that this lack of action on Perry's part is not talked about much.

There are two things I know about fire. One is that they are almost entirely man made and therefore preventable...and the other is that with enough resources applied...they are ALL extinguishable.

While that dodo Perry is busy praying for rain(howz that workin for ya Ricky?)... His WHOLE fuckin state is burning to cinders.

I know that if one tenth of the fires burning in Texass were alight here in Washington state we would have Christine Gregouir's head on a platter.

All that bragging about how well his state is doing is a load of crap when one ganders at a map of the still burning fires in his pitiful state.

Perry for president? I wouldn't trust him to watch over a sanican. The shithole might catch fire and burn up with ya sittin in it!

Hey Rickster!!!! Fires are NOT a natural disaster.. You are supposed to put them out ya dumb fuck!!!

OOPS! A thousand double tankers filled with water and a hundred extra pumpers imported from nearby states wouldn't look good on your states bottom line?

Fuck you Perry. I'm just thankfull you aren't the gubner here in Washington.

Your thoughts?
Huggy, we have a horrible problem down here in Texas, and there's nothing we can do except ride it out, which could take a few years. Rick Perry is not the cause of the drought, but prayer together comforts people with a common problem sometimes. The fires started recently, and have burned a lot of trees, farms, orchards, and crops. Many have lost properties because the crops and water failed, and moved out to live someplace where there's running water. With no rural work to do, they have to do something else.

I sense some true glee in politicoes who've posted on this thread, and I'm sorry to see it. I can't imagins someone taking a natural disaster like a drought or a hurricane and blaming the governor for it. I don't know anyone I've ever talked to on a political forum where I blamed them for a disaster, and I've seen everything in the last 20 years online--earthquakes, fires, floods, water drought, tornadoes, hurricanes, and even a volcano like Mt. St. Helens.

This is not a polticial issue.

Well to some degree yes it is political as we the people start to decide who will be our president after the next election. Perry should have never tossed his hat in the ring. HE made his performance as the political leader of TEXAS germain.

So to repeat myself you are saying that NO amount of manpower experienced or not and NO amount of money for equipment could stop these fires? Bullshit. I do not believe that.

The truth is that there is not enough political will to amass enough people and resources to do the job...Texas plain and Texas simple.

You know.........one of the biggest stumbling blocks to his campaign is his book "Fed Up".

They've been reading excerpts on the news, and that fucker is crazy.

Never mind the fact that only 6 months or so ago, he was absolutely sure he wouldn't run.

That's what the problem is in politics btw........ever since Jr. got into office, jackasses like Bachmann, Palin, Perry and Trump all think they can do it too.

Really?

Is THAT what you think? So I take it that you have not read any of my posts....which by the way are chock full of proven methods for fighting wild fires. And yours?...hack whining?

If you were as concerned about Rick Perry's performance as you are about what you IMAGINE I have written then maybe you would be making some progress towards solving your problems.
