Rural communities are being targeted for re-education by leftist groups

The left won't fare well in rural areas, far too much common sense, something the left tremendously lacks
Rural areas are deprived, depressed, and poorly educated (thanks to the progressive control of all our schools). These people lie to them, and they believe them.

Also, they offer them WORK. They are advertising in the local, tiny communities for people to work within those communities. This is the way you obliterate cultures. Romans did the same thing. So did the Chinese. First you destroy what they have, by destroying their economy and either killing or otherwise removing the strong minded people in the community. Then you move in with money and engage those who remain.

You live in a red state which controls your schools, and sets the curriculum but you blame the teachers for being liberal.

Since conservatives starting pushing for "choice" in education, your world education rankings have been dropping like a stone.

Companies are no longer looking to open factories in the US because you're not teaching science or technology. Creationism and right wing history won't cut it in today's competitive world.

Again, worry about Canada, your opinion of the United States of America means absolutely nothing to me.

We have a Liberal government, gun control, universal health care, and good social programs. We stay out of the Middle East and don't start wars.

We don't have much to worry about except the bat shit crazy country next door.
The way your glorious leader keeps bending over for muslims, that may not last much longer. You see, it's well documented, you can't make nice to a rattle snake.

I don't call taking in people who are running for their lives "bending over", nor do I consider treating people with respect a sign of weakness.

Jesus said we should treat others the way we would like to be treated. We don't have conservative fundamentalist Christianity in Canada, to any large extent. But somehow we have managed to incorporate the "do unto others" mantra into our Constitution. We are required by our Constitution to provide help and assistance to others.

Our biggest problem is keeping the politics of hate and division on YOUR side of the border.

"This call to subversion was picked up by Marxist scholars based around the Institute for Social Research in Frankfurt, Germany. In the tumultuous milieu of Weimar Germany, theorists such as Max Horkheimer, Herbert Marcuse, Erich Fromm, Theodor Adorno and Georg Lukacs integrated the theories of Sigmund Freud with classical Marxism to develop the foundations of critical theory, deconstructionism, post-structuralism and postmodernism. Known as the Frankfurt School, many of these intellectuals fled Hitler’s Germany for the United States where they were welcomed by Progressives and socialist intellectuals. The theories of the Frankfurt School unified the vanguard of the 60’s countercultural movement and have since spread to every discipline in our universities, colleges and schools. These theories, which obsess about colonization, subjugation and oppression, have indeed colonized higher education in the West.

"Marxism is always cloaked in high-sounding utopian rhetoric. This is a ruse. What cultural Marxists seek has nothing to do with true diversity, social harmony or universal tolerance. They don’t want the races getting along. They seek power. The solution for the perceived injustices that Cultural Marxists have manufactured is radical social engineering. The power to carry out this social engineering must be given, of course, to a politically-correct elite determined to remake society along ideological lines."

Cultural Marxism Is Destroying America

"The failures in logic, and the fueling of unwise and arbitrary groups of power is quickly unraveling American cultural and social life. Identity politics has corralled groups of gender, race, sexual orientation and other categories and weaponized them to create divide, and make potentially revolutionary division inevitable – all without pinning down any fundamentals or principles with which to live by.

"Mainstream Americans, and those who value Constitutionally-recognized rights to free expression and self-determination are horrified to watch people, under naive pretexts, give into to a radical and extreme power base. These dangerous powers will ultimately be used not to achieve a noble goal – like equality under the law or tolerance – but to insist upon preferential treatment of special groups and the attempt to police speech on the basis of hurt feelings and “unlearning” culturally-loaded concepts. As you can see, the whole movement is headed for disaster, and plans to bring America down with it."

“The Cult of Cultural Marxism”: Foolish of the Forces They Are Ushering In to Destroy America

"Cultural Marxists certainly have no respect for freedom. Their only concern is artificial “equality,” because forced equality makes collectivism possible. This often means grinding down the best the world has to offer to match it with the worst the world has to offer.

"Multiculturalism is really just a mechanism by which failed and unstable cultures are aggressively injected into more stable societies in order to disrupt and then homogenize them. Europe is now experiencing this in unprecedented fashion, and the U.S. has been dealing with it incrementally for decades.

"Multiculturalism is of course a nice way of describing the Cloward-Piven Strategy, a strategy designed by cultural Marxists to deliberately undermine economic and social systems. The use of Islamic refugees as a battering ram against Western society is a perfect summation of this strategy."

“The Cult of Cultural Marxism”: Foolish of the Forces They Are Ushering In to Destroy America

Our rural communities were destabilized by the destruction of our economy via land use policies, fishing bans and the closure of our forests to logging, and all our mills.

I live in a BLUE STATE you fucking idiot.
The populated areas, Portland, Eugene, Bend, are solid blue. The rural areas, most of Eastern Oregon, and some of Southwestern Oregon, are solid red. There are just too few people in the rural areas, and getting to be even less, because of attitudes that are not conducive to companies that seek intelligent employees.

What's funny is the same is true about the middle east..Most of those people like our hick population are too closed off, don't make good workers and don't know how to treat other people with one ounce of respect.

These rural people are a joke and are the greatest threat to our continued leadership in this world.
Rural people are salt of the earth. Kosher Girl does not speak for "rural people." Let's get that straight. She speaks for the extreme militia wing. Get that straight.

We need to drain our education system. Our kids are idiots that still use crayons and can make pretty liberal signs in their vagina hats. We need to repeal and replace the Saudi, Islam inspired common core and get back to making our students great again....
I guess you are not smart enough to have kids who get engineering degrees and start at $90k at 23 yrs old.
Or as my daughter who started a $150mm business.
All it takes is a few brains

And hard work. My son is a scientist in Boston. He worked very hard to get the success he now enjoys. That education and success makes him an elitist liberal.

RWNJs - I really don't think you have anything to worry about. It's not for nuthin' that trump said he loves uneducated people. You're no more capable of learning than he is.

Or rural rubes are uneducated.
Easy get an engineering degree like my 23 yr old and start at $90k.
Nothing to it

I'm college educated, work from home trading in the markets and 90K is chickenfeed in that arena. I'm not working 40+ hours a week to get it either....so who's the rube, smartass?
And you still come across as dumb as a post? LOL

I make more in a month than you probably made in a year....and I answer to no superiors. Who's stupid you tired old fool?
LOL So you claim. It is your posts that show you to be stupid and ignorant. And that is all we have to judge you by, in this forum. LOL

I was raised in the county that Kosher writes of, Grant County, Oregon. Most of the rural people that were there when I was young have moved to more urban areas. I had many cousins that owned ranches from John Day down to Izee. Almost all sold out because they did not want to stay in a depressed area, and invested their money in areas that paid a better return. You still have a few of the old ranchers there, but a lot of the land is owned by people from the big cities, and the people on the ranches are employees. Most of the people in the small towns there that have jobs work for government, city, county, state, or federal, in some capacity. A good part of the population of those towns are retirees, and most of the rest are on welfare, as Kosher admits.

It used to be that such areas were almost crime free. When I was a child, it was considered almost criminal to lock your house in the winter because in the extreme cold, someone might need in. Today, you lock you house even when you are in it in the rural locations. By percentage of population, they have a far bigger drug problem than do the urban areas.

In 1975, when I drove up to Yellowknife, things were already changing in the rural areas of the US. Traveling through the rural areas in Canada was almost like stepping back in time to my childhood. I hope that the raural areas of Canada have maintained at least part of that.

I live in an area that has been poor since the demise of the sailing ships. We also have a serious drug problem; have had for a few decades. Still not a lot of crime, though, except petty break ins. The young people leave to make a good living elsewhere, and have been since the early 1900's. Yes, we've got a lot of folks on Food Stamps and heating assistance, but before those programs (which I remember, as a young child) was extreme poverty that wasn't necessarily good for anyone.

What ScienceRocks was saying is a stereotype that is not true. My neighbors and townsmen and relatives are humble, hard working people who are honest and fair minded, for the most part. As is probably true of every group, everywhere, if the truth be known. I didn't like the stereotype. If you are trying to prove it with your story, I don't agree with your conclusion either.

So Sassy is a day trader, who sits on her computer making money off the hard work of others while contributing nothing of value to the GDP. She doesn't make hard goods, doesn't provide a service, she's not even making long term investments to create jobs for others. She simply buys a stock and disposes of it when it's profitable to do so.

Day traders are the parasites of the stock market. Yes you have to do your research and make smart decisions, to make money, but in terms of value to the economy it's really no different than collecting welfare off the work of others.

Unless you are providing goods or services to others, you're living off other people's hard work and efforts.

No, what I am saying is that these rural areas have many of the same problems as the urban areas. Glad to hear that crime is not that much of a problem in your area.

If I could afford to, I would live in a rural area. However, the way that healthcare is structured in the US, as a near future retiree, what would cost me a reasonable amount for coverage beyond Medicare would cost an unreasonable amount in those areas.

I now live in a rural area of Southern Ontario. I grew up in a small town, lived in Toronto most of my adult life and moved back to a rural area when I retired. Things have changed - a lot.

Our local government is the County, and we have few government funded services here. Coming from Toronto I was shocked to learn that while residential taxes are on a par with taxes in Toronto, government services are not.

I live in an unincorporated town within the County. There is no industry in our town save a canning plant. Young people have to travel outside the County for good paying jobs. There's also a lot of drug abuse here. There are a lot of retirees living here.

The town I grew up in had a number of manufacturing plants. My father and one of my brothers worked for one of them. Those plants are long gone but they've been replaced by one of the largest automobile manufacturing plants in the world - owned by an Asian car manufacturer, so my old home town is still thriving.

Racism and fear of those who aren't white or Christian was prevalent when I was growing up. It's still here. Where I live is so white seeing someone who isn't white or Native American (there is a large indigenous population here), is remarkable. After living in downtown Toronto, where white people are the minority, this took some getting used to. Other than an Italian restaurant, there are no ethic restaurants at all. When I go to the city the first thing I look for is Thai food, or an Indian restaurant (butter chicken!).

We don't lock our doors when we're awake. The town is very friendly, and I love living here. I miss going to Blue Jays games, and the ballet, but I have a wonderful life, amazing friends and the air is clean and sweet smelling.

It's important for Republicans to keep poor whites as uninformed and ignorant as possible.

Majority of Republicans do not see value in a higher education

Repubs are quite open about it. Remember when Obama said that everyone should have to opportunity to go to college and idiot Santorum said "what a snob"? The cheeto said he loves the uneducated. And how many times have RWNJs on this boarded said they're against "elitist" education?

Educated people are curious, open minded and tend to think for themselves. IOW, they don't vote Republican.

We're not against education, we're against indoctrination and that is what is happening in public schools, universities and colleges.

You must not be educated....one certainly couldn't deduce it from reading your nonsensical tripe

BTW, I also live in a rural area, small town about 30 miles away, in a very backward red state.

We're not here for the restaurants, museums, plays but there are times when I would really like liberal, progressive a little closer.

You're against indoctrination???? Is that why Texas schools ordered "conservative history books" which called blacks who came to North America on slave ships "African immigrants", and which ignored the Native American genocide.

What about religious schools which teach Creationism and that the earth is 6,000 years old?

You're afraid of having your children educated in an environment where they learn things which challenge your deeply held beliefs. I encouraged my children to look at every religion and every point of view and to make up their own minds. Critical thinking is critical for success whether you're a liberal or a conservative.

The history of the world and the progress of man is the story of liberal ideas overcoming conservative opposition.

That being said, not all conservative ideas are bad and not all liberal ideas are good. But in the US right now the knee jerk reaction on both sides is that all of the ideas on one side are automatically opposed just because of which side proposed them.

Cutting taxes when your budget is balanced and your infrastructure is in good shape, is a good idea, as long as those tax cuts help all income levels. Increased military spending when you already outspend the next 10 countries combined, is dumb. Cutting taxes for the wealthy AND increasing spending has lead to two stock market crashes, and the Great Recession. Why do you think doing it a third time will turn out any better?

LOL Good shopping and good restaurants, for sure. The traffic, the overcrowding and the crime I can do without.
