Russia Caves In: Pressures Syria To Put Chemical Weapons Under International Control

Why are people still arguing about this? It's a done-deal. Syria has agreed to get rid of their Chemical Weapons. They've invited the UN in to monitor the process. There will be no War. It's time to turn the page.

Not gonna happen, wouldn't be prudent.

Firstly, you should not buy into the gassing incident - that is merely a subterfuge which will allow Obama to attack Assad hoping that Iran and Lebanon will retaliate thereby providing the War Party another pretext to attack the latter.

If Obama doesn't attack Syria soon or if he vacillates there will be another gassing incident, this time directed at Israel.

Mark my words.

Not gonna happen, wouldn't be prudent. The new messiah Putin, would never allow an attack on Israel by his puppet Assad. Too much to lose for Putin the 'peacemaker'.

The terrorists that Qatar and Saudi Arabia are paying errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....................rebels won't stop.

There is too much at stake.

Your messiah, Putin, is handing over Assad to Obama on a platter. Putin's seriously kissing Obama's ass right now, for you see, Putin, the peacemaker, want's to remain to be seen as a serious player on the world stage with Obama's blessing. Getting snubbed by President Obama in St Petersburg hurt awful bad.

obama is an international non-player. President Putin holds all the cards, except of course the race card, but that has no value outside our borders.

President Putin isn't done with little o obama yet. I'm going to enjoy seeing him slapped around some more.

It should be "Russia gives obama his orders".

No, it should read... Putin kissing Obama's ass. Putin desperately wants to be seen as a world player again after Obama snubbed him.

Really? Putin even had the seating arrangements changed so he wouldn't have to be near Obama.

Who was snubbing who?

Hey if you want to convince yourself that a community organizer with Chicago land diplomacy could ever shame Putin, go right ahead.

You live in lala land.

Syria has chemical weapons - Yellowworld Forums

US TURNS HEAT ON SYRIA

Syria has conducted chemical weapons tests during the past 15 months, US defence secretary Donald Rumsfeld has said.

"We have seen a chemical weapons tests in Syria over the past 12, 15 months," he said.

Syria denies it has chemical weapons.

Rumsfeld said the United States also has intelligence that Syria has allowed Syrians and others enter Iraq with arms and leaflets indicating that they would be rewarded for killing Americans.

Road to war

Amid fears that the US could embark on the road to war with Syria, British foreign secretary Jack Straw has played down talk that Britain could go to war with Syria.

As US-Syrian tension mounts, Washington has announced that it is considering imposing sanctions against Syria for its support of the deposed Iraqi regime.

US Secretary of State Colin Powell said: "We will examine possible measures of a diplomatic, economic or other nature as we move forward.

"We are in touch with Syrian authorities ... and will make them aware of our concerns and we'll see how things unfold as we move forward."

Denied allegations

Syria has insisted it never co-operated with Saddam Hussein's administration and has denied the US allegation that it had chemical weapons.

"We say to president George Bush that Syria has no chemical weapons and that the only chemical, biological and nuclear weapons in the region are in Israel, which is threatening its neighbours and occupying their land," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Buthaina Shaaban said.

Putin only cares about Assad staying in power to block the Qatar pipeline and keep the Iranians from entering a war that would harm Russia's pocket book.

Name one thing that Putin is not getting his way on that he cares about in this.

Obama is the only one who's doing it for his ego. Putin is being rational for his own interest.

President Putin has his boot right on little o obama's neck.

How bad is it for obama?

This bad

Most important, for Obama, all this shop-worn idealism provided legitimacy for behavior that is driven by raw politics––the success of his own presidency and that of his party–– and, along with the bumbling John Kerry, that reveals an astonishing incompetence, if not outright stupidity, about how the most powerful country in the world and source of global order must conduct itself in a dangerous world of hard men who aren’t impressed by outreach, flattery, or prostrations of grief, but only by mind-concentrating action. Is it any wonder that every major world leader and two-bit jihadist gang like the Mullahs in Iran take Obama’s lunch money?

So here we are, with a disaster brewing in Syria because this president shot off his mouth about “Assad must go” and “red line” and “change my calculus,” empty rhetoric unconnected to any thoughtful foreign policy strategy, but useful for pacifying his base and the internationalist do-gooders about his commitment to “responsibility to protect” and the international conventions against chemical weapons. Desperate to escape the railroad tracks he tied himself onto, Obama challenged Congress to vote up or down on military strikes. Then like Dudley Do-Right, Russia’s Putin, seizing on an off-the-cuff, half-baked remark by John Kerry, rescued Obama with a spurious diplomatic solution the main effect of which was to elevate Putin into the major power in the region. After all, Obama had struck out in the U.N., had no international material support, was facing repudiation in the House of Representatives, and had two-thirds of Americans opposed to military strikes. What he needed was some breathing space, which Putin’s shrewd move provided for him, at the same time he gave his ally Assad more time to destroy his enemies and squirrel away his stockpiles.

Obama's blessing.

Syria has always denied it had chemical weapons. They denied it to Bush, they have denied it to the UN, they have denied it to everyone who ever demanded they fess up.

Now, they not only just admitted they do have chemical weapons, they are offering to remove them from their country.

Boy, they sure did punk Obama! BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA!

What a thoughtful post, exactly what I expect from a 2 year old.

stands as what ? It's from 2003. You need to go back to school and learn how to tell time in years. Kerry and Obama exposed nothing about Syria that we didn't already know.
