Russia plans to hold several accession referendums in Ukraine

Listen to your brainfarts - Russians were civilized in 1997, so NATO moved east to the Russian borders...
No wonder you choose scoundrels and idiots as your politicians...
What I said was that much of the world mistakenly thought Russia might become civilized, but the former Soviet states, which had suffered for 45 years under Russian oppression and brutality, understood before the much of the rest of the world that it was a mistake to trust Russia at that time (or now) and wanted to join NATO for protection against Russia.

The question was, should NATO treat these states as essentially vassal states of Russia and not recognize their right to decide what was in their own best interest or should NATO treat these states as sovereign states that could make their own decisions? The very fact that Russia claimed the right to decide what these states should do proves they were right to want to join NATO and that NATO was right to accept them.

RIght up to the borders.....losers!

You don't get it any Nation whether they border Russia or not that wants to join NATO has a right to. Why do you think all these nations are joining NATO because they fear Russia Russia is a loose cannon they are dangerous and they need to be put down like a rabid dog. Mind you not the Russian people it's leadership is insane.

You fool, kitchen has opened the door to his own demise as well as the fall of Russia itself. This referendum garbage is going to end Russia as we know it. Kaliningrad will have its own referendum on whether or not to stay in part of the Soviet Union in a matter of months. That will be followed by the 14 republics that are part of Russia at present. Russia size and clout will be cut in half at least. The Russian people need to act now if they want to save Russia from Putin.
The Russian people and Putin know their eternal threat comes from western capitalists looking to repeat the "shock therapy" of the 1990s.

The Harvard Boys Do Russia

"After seven years of economic 'reform' financed by billions of dollars in U.S. and other Western aid, subsidized loans and rescheduled debt, the majority of Russian people find themselves worse off economically."

The Russian people don't buy the propaganda like you do. You're just one of Putin's good old boys. Most people are reasonable. When you can't get news from the outside world, ornation after nation is abandoning their businesses in your country. It's not propaganda. It's a direct action too an abhorrent and unjust situation..

Would it help if Putin hadn't looted $80 billion or more?

After Gorbachev dissolved the USSR Russia and the other former Soviet states all tried to become democratic states with free market economies; the other former Soviet states succeeded, but the leadership of Russia was too corrupt and incompetent, just as it is today, to succeed. Just as corrupt and incompetent Russian leadership caused Russia's woes in the 1990's, so corrupt and incompetent leadership is leading Russian into disaster today.

Scott Ritter: Reaping the Whirlwind

"Beginning in 2015, NATO had been training and equipping the Ukrainian military for the purpose of confronting pro-Russian separatists that had seized power in the Donbass following the ouster of pro-Russian Ukrainian President Victor Yanukovich in a violent insurrection, known as the 'Maidan Revolution,' spearheaded by right-wing Ukrainian political parties professing loyalty to the memory of Stepan Bandera."

Well, Ritter is a liar as well as a fool. No weapons were sent to Ukraine until Trump became president, and no significant shipments of weapons were sent there until Putin launched the invasion and the Ukrainians demonstrated they were capable of defeating the Russian invaders.

What country do you live in?
A majority of the world does not support the US proxy war against Russia being waged to the last drop of Ukrainian blood.

Corruption in Ukraine - Wikipedia

"Corruption is widespread in Ukrainian society.[1][2] In 2012 Ernst & Young put Ukraine among the three most-corrupt nations from 43 surveyed, alongside Colombia and Brazil.[3][4]

"In 2015 The Guardian called Ukraine 'the most corrupt nation in Europe'.[5]

"According to a poll conducted by Ernst & Young in 2017, experts considered Ukraine to be the ninth-most corrupt nation from 53 surveyed.[6]

"According to Transparency International's 2021 Corruption Perceptions Index, (a scale of least to most corrupt nations), Ukraine ranked 122nd out of 180 countries in 2021, the second most corrupt in Europe, with Russia the most at 136.[7]"

How much "help" did the "shock therapy" arranged by greedy American capitalists provide to all of those former Soviet states, and how did that affect poverty levels, life expectancy, and inflation rates in the former USSR?

The Harvard Boys Do Russia

"Through the late summer and fall of 1991, as the Soviet state fell apart, Harvard Professor Jeffrey Sachs and other Western economists participated in meetings at a dacha outside Moscow where young, pro-Yeltsin reformers planned Russia’s economic and political future.

"Sachs teamed up with Yegor Gaidar, Yeltsin’s first architect of economic reform, to promote a plan of 'shock therapy' to swiftly eliminate most of the price controls and subsidies that had underpinned life for Soviet citizens for decades.

"Shock therapy produced more shock—not least, hyperinflation that hit 2,500 percent—than therapy."

The majority of the world condemns Russia's invasion of Ukraine and supports Ukraine's resistance to the invaders.

So what you are saying is President Victor Yanukovich was one of Putin stooges. And now the Ukraine has a real leader willing to stand up to Russia. God bless the Ukraine. Others will follow. Russia has subjugated people in what we now call Russia. Soon to be a plethora of free Nations.

The Russian collapse wiped out billions on Wall Street, and destroyed the largest hedge fund at the time, anti-American moron.
