When I was a kid in school, we had May Day. We would get all dressed up and poles all festive would be installed in the playground. Then..it just all disappeared.

For two years may day was also the day of Mexican boycott. They didn't open businesses, go to work, go to school or go shopping. The Day Without A Mexican. Aside from some serious economic effects on hispanic businesses it was a very pleasant and positive day. School fights were way down, the freeways were not clogged, everyone was just a little bit nicer. After two tries to make Mexicans missed, The Day Without a Mexican was canceled but the marches were kept. I wish they had kept it. Parking places were everywhere.
