Seriously, Have the Democrats Lost It?

Watching the Senators' speeches, I cannot help but think this is a Hail Mary.

I believe they need Bernie to be their sacrificial lamb as he would have little future anyway, and Bloomberg will not get a box to stand on, which was his last hope.
No Box For You!

Well they sure have shown their true colors for the past three years.

What a pack of sore losers.

Imbeciles one and all.

Three only?

They've been showing their colors since Democrats, just camouflaged into layers of lies, deceit, and giveaways. It took right man for them to have meltdown and peel those layers...

I would just as soon be beaten with buzzard guts as listen to those Ass-Clowns pontificate. Republicans included.

Bless you for being able to do it. I do like the recaps.

Sounds like Joe Manchin is an Acquittal, but like the sniveling politician he is, he wants a vote of censure to try to straddle the fence.

They censured Andrew Jackson. He didn't give a shit. Wore it like a badge of honor. Had guts. Won re-election. Is on the $20 Bill.

Trump is the most like Andrew Jackson of any president we have had. Says what he thinks...and it drives the Rotting City Globalists/Socialists absolutely crazy..just like Jackson did. Same people, rather their descendants---Mainly New England Assholes...now also San Francisco/Los Angeles Assholes.

Andrew Johnson. Not on the $20 Bill.
_____

NO, Andrew JACKSON.

"In 1833, the Senate clashed with President Andrew Jackson in a fight over the survival of the Bank of the United States. After months of debate and recriminations, in an unprecedented and never-repeated tactic, the Senate censured the president on March 28, 1834."

Now, you should respond by saying "I'm sorry, I was wrong".

_____

You are right. It was Johnson. Not Jackson. My bad.

went totally insane and will never be able to recover.

Ah the old Trumpublican dream from 2017. Then the Dems took control of the House after campaigning on the issues that matter to people in 2018. 2020 is theirs to lose.

Let's see:

Riots
Death threats
Fleeing to Canada
Scream at the sky night
Therapy animals
Thousands of unhinged YouTube videos
Russian collusion
Cavanaugh hearings
Impeachment
On and on and on....

Yes, it's fair to say they've lost it

You're right, censured. My mistake.

Had guts. Won re-election.

You're wrong, his 2nd, and final election was 1832.

For the millionth time...2018 was a normal mid-term. The president's party lost seats, the dems ran on fixing healthcare...a lie, its not fixed.
2020 should be a big win for the GOP based on historic norms.
If the dems win in November, then you can crow about it.

HillaryHate was a huge motivating factor in Trumpybears win in 2016.

Probably the double edge sword that will do him in, in 2020. Regardless of the issue, he has generated a lot of hate. Hate is a strong motivator.

He lost in 18 pretty much everywhere he made himself the primary issue. The gop wants him to make the economy the no. 1 issue, but farmers are continuing to suffer and mftring is at a 4 year low. I'd guess it's up to whether the voters that crossed to him from Obama in Wisc, Mich and Pa think he's helped them, and whether the dem candidate can get more dems to vote. And if the dems can somehow take a state like Arizona, they don't need Wis.

From your link:

In 2010, Democrats lost 69 seats—63 in the House and six in the Senate—while Democratic President Barack Obama was in the White House.

From the same link:

"The University of Houston's Robert S. Erikson, writing in the Journal of Politics, explains it this way: "The stronger the presidential victory margin or the more seats won in the presidential year and therefore 'at risk,' the greater will be the subsequent midterm seat loss."

Another reason: the so-called "presidential penalty," or the tendency of more voters to go the polls only when they are angry. If more angry voters vote than do satisfied voters, the president's party loses."

So not only did Obama have a much larger margin of victory over McCain than Trump did over Clinton, but he was also half black which generated a lot of hate itself.

So, Obama got shellacked because he was half black? Convenient, and asinine, excuse.

Also from your link:

In 1994, Democrats lost 60 seats—52 in the House and eight in the Senate—while Democrat Bill Clinton was in office and the opposing party, led by conservative firebrand Newt Gingrich, orchestrated a successful "Republican Revolution" in Congress with its "Contract With America."

Slick was pasty white, so what bullshit excuse do you have for him getting his ass kicked?

Both Reagan and Clinton significantly enlarged their margins in their second terms, largely on the economy. But both won first terms with the popular vote against incumbents running on weak economies.

Strangely, Gore ran on Clinton's strong economy - with the Fed raising rates, and Gore not only won the popular vote but more people in Fla tried to vote for him than W .... yet W was declared the winner by the US Sup Ct. Then four years later, Kerry got nearly as many votes as Gore had the year before. But W won pretty easily in his second term because he expanded his turnout by 8-9%, and he did it despite declining popularity for his elective war

Obama won in in 2008 with an historically large voter turnout, and despite 8% unemployment he was able to keep most of that turnout by running a pretty negative campaign against Romney who turned out more voters than McCain had four years before, but still lost by a wide margin.

Hillary got nearly as many votes as Obama in 12, and she won the popular vote. But Trump got 2 million or so more votes than had Romney. Hillary lost Pa by fewer votes than stein got. And Mich too. They stopped counting in Wis. In some ways, it was similar to 2000.

I think Trump will turn out more votes in 2020 than he did in 16. AS DID W IN 2004. But if the dems turn out like they did in 2008, I don't know that the electoral college will save him.

I don't know about the half black thing. Only a deplorable few worshipped the Orange God of birtherism. But you're right that the larger an president's win in his first term is, the larger his potential losses in congress are in his first off year election.
