How many American Christians want laws based on the bible, I wonder.

Many of the laws are based on Judeo-Christian principals.... difference is however, the laws and judicial system are handled by elected officials, not clerics. Not to mention, there is a very clear delineation between the clergy and the state. In Islam, they are one in the same. I don't know any Christian who believes in Biblical law system.. however the Bible does speak to the immorality of stealing, murder, usury, etc. Most laws address the punishment for immoral/wrong acts.

The Law prohibiting murder... rests entirely in "Religious Law". This as a function of the self-evident truth, that "We are all endowed by our Creator with certain, inalienable rights." Wherein God endows the individual with their life, thus it is not for any man to take the life of an innocent, as that life is from God.

Same with libel, calumny, slander, vilification, traducement... The individual is a child of God, so to malign an innocent is to malign God.

Same with theft... The product of one's labor is a function of the rights endowed to the innocent, to strip them of their gift from God is to do the same to God.
