Should Nancy Pelosi be the New Democratic House Speaker?

HOWEVER, I believe she should be forced to clarify her positions on how she will lead the House before she is voted on - especially on all things Trump.

Since it matters not to me, I’ll throw in my 2 cents and even try to do it without partisanship.

Whether she should be speaker or not depends on what her party wants to become. It seems to me that they have not figured it out. Nancy represents the old guard and I’m not sure that that is the way a lot of the democrats want to go anymore. But then is it the right time to go in the “Democratic Socialist” direction yet? I think that is where a growing majority of the party wants to go and I don’t think that Pelosi represents that direction no matter what she says.

It’s a good question and will be interesting to watch.

Thank you for your input. You make some very good points. I can't think of anymore more qualified and suitable to be Speaker at this time than Pelosi. I would like for her to lead the Trump oversight - at least for one year. She can walk and chew gum at the same time, so I expect she can accomplish much more than just Trump oversight. HOWEVER, as I said in my OP: I believe she should be forced to clarify her positions on how she will lead the House before she is voted on - especially on all things Trump.

I think we need the old guard to lead the fight on the Trump mafia. After that - put the kids in charge.

If they do that, they risk losing the party for a generation. You really can't underestimate the strength of the dissatisfaction out there after they so blatantly shafted Bernie and paid him off. Better to give the Republicans their day in the sun and regroup, then try to be relevant another day.

Yes, please god yes! She is hated by conservatives and disliked by most other people. So as a conservatives, I’d love to see her running the show, because anything she says and does will be mostly negative for demmies.

I don't like democrats, so I don't really have an opinion. I do, however, note the political dynamic going on right now, and the democrats are facing the same pressures from their rank and file that in the Republicans produced Trump. It remains to be seen if the democrat power structure can see it or not. If they re-elect Pelosi, I think they're making a big mistake. Think about it, the last two years and the next two are prime opportunities for them to do some house cleaning and reorganization because no one with a greater than room temperature IQ expects them to get any agenda items through that Trump doesn't want.

I don't hold out any hope for them, however.

It really was not as bad as you think or the right wing made it out to be....

the house had already passed their health care bill....so the house members not only got to read it, but also participated in creating it or amending it.We, the public also got the gazillion plus page bill after they passed it....

the senate ALSO passed their version of the bill, which was also available for us to see and read and the house members got to read and see it....

the bill that Nancy said they had to pass it, and then be able to read it was the reconciled bill.... which was the house bill we all saw, the senate bill passed we all saw, combined together, the reconciliation bill....
