How is that the taxpayers fault? And why is bankrupting the country to keep people from having to work for a living an option. If they think that they don't get paid enough, they need to better skills and find a better job...not mooch off taxpayers and destroy the country in the meantime.
If you can’t stay in business without low wages, you don’t belong in business

Well if Harris and those like AOC got their wish they would issue $2,500.00 a month to everyone and many would never work again…

People need to go back to work once and for all!

who the fuck would sit at home for 2500 a month?

The higher wages get, the more possible it is for one parent (dad) to work and mom stay home with the kids, instead of farming them out to some illegal childcare worker who can't even speak English. Mom staying with the kids is GOOD, not bad.

I'm revising my opinion of the idea that people won't work because Biden pays them not to ---- sure, that's definitely part of it, but there is a lot else going on here: people hating, hating the killing commutes, people hating the office infighting, people hating their jobs.

This is Creative Destruction: of jobs. We are finding out that we don't need so many workers. Could be an interesting change.

Nibblin' on sponge cake
Watchin' the Gov make
All of the biz around me close down
Strummin' my six string ,as they do their thing
Congressional
Tempers beginning to boil

Wasted away again in quarantine again
Searchin' for my N95 mask
Some people claim that China’s to blame
But I know it don’t pay to ask

Don't know the reason
worked all this season
With nothing to show but suspicions of flu
But it's a real beauty
A Corona cutie, and now they’ve bought it
without a test clue

Wasted away again in quarantine again
Searchin' for my essentials pass
Some people claim that them Wuhans are to blame
Now I think, - what a pain in the ass

I love when they flip flop
and claim they’re all on top
just horde supplies and stay the f*ck home
But there’s relief to be rendered
Soon the Fed’s will see tendered
Their phony notes that helps me hang on

Wasted away again in quarantine again
Searchin' for my lost relief check
Some people claim that there’s some banksters to blame
But I know, it's our own damn fault
Yes, and some people claim it’s all some socialist gain
And I know it's our own damn fault

~S~ w/apologies to Mr Buffet
You know that Margaritaville isn't a real place, right?

They stopped getting extra money in their UE Checks at the end of August/beginning of September. we are nearing the end of December....
But why are they not returning to work? Because pay is too low? Then what are they living on?

I think it's a combination of A. many workers have taken early retirement and just are never coming back because they're making do with whatever retirement and/or part time income they have and B. people are still getting by on what they got then and the child tax credits and other aid like TANF and Medicaid and SSI

Perhaps.

I can see seniors just retiring. Not worth risking death. People also realized they can manage their life, with less....if you don't need new clothes and shoes and jewelry and a new car every 5 years, extra gasoline costs, higher auto insurance for more miles driven and don't go out to dinner a couple of times a week, their families can get by on less. And there are some, that are still care takers for their parents at risk, who they won't put in a nursing home with covid risks, and there are mothers who can't afford day care or find daycare...

And of course some, have enough money from stimulus to look for a higher paying job, or take time to find one.

As you said, it is a multitude of reasons!!!!

I can look at it two ways. 1. After the 2016 election, my wife and both agreed that the people in the rust belt who switched from Obama to Trump, and flipped the WH, decided their economic situation warranted them flipping their votes even though Hill pretty much would have continued Obama's approach. Although perhaps they wouldn't have voted for her in any even because of her negatives. But we figured that if they were just dissatisfied they were lazy slugs who didn't appreciate what they had. Although, if I lost a house because I lost a job and all my equity went poof when prices collapsed, and now that house was worth what it had been before the collapse, I'd be pissed.

2. Assuming people are about as well off now as they were in 16, and still able to work, we need to cut that child tax credit back, and the Trump tax cuts too
