TV and movie violence has been an issue for many decades.

That Travon Martin is dead is a tragedy. That any young person dies is a tragedy. But would this thread exist if he had been white? Or if Zimmerman had been black? There is nothing driving the Trayvon Martin story other than those who capitalize on racism and use it for the purposes of keeping racism alive.

They did it by characterizing Zimmerman as a 'white man' rather than Hispanic. Or by characterizing him as a 'white Hispanic.' Have you EVER seen a designation of white Hispanic used in the media until this story broke? Ever?

They did it by printing that photo of a much younger, fresh faced, innocent looking Trayvon Martin over and over and over rather than the Facebook Trayvon Martin.

They did it by allowing endless speculation and assumptions about Zimmerman's motives that night and disallowing any such speculation and assumptions about Martin. I have rarely witnessed so blatant a media mob lynching of a person (Zimmerman) to this extent.

And the racists among us gobble it up and spew it out confident that their peers will accept it as fact and thank them for being so 'smart'.

And that keeps racism alive and well in this country. I think the racists among us are not about to ever allow any form of objectivity to interfere with that. And that too is a tragedy.
