Why would you need a 30 ft ladder? It's already been shown that even an 8 year old girl can easily climb to the top of the bollards with no help. 6 or 8 feet of rebar makes it easier to get over the top few feet.

The 8 year old had her clmbing instructor dad helping her and professional mountain climbing equipment.

Did you read the article? Did you see the spike in arrests from this year to last year? It's rather apparent that something is getting more people CAUGHT at the border since the wall was built than before! Is ANY wall an impenetrable barrier? Doubtful. Does having a wall make it more likely that those scaling it will be caught...quite obviously it does!

True Value Hardware's price on 1/2" by 72" #4 rebar is $15.49. The wall is 15 meters high, or 49.4 feet high. a 50-foot ladder like the one they used would require at least 12 long pieces of rebar, with enough to overlap them and tie them together. then at least a couple more to build the steps, so that's 14 pieces of 72" rebar @ $15.49, which would be $216.86. Plus another $6 or $8 for a roll of tie wire.

I doubt that the price of rebar is much cheaper that far south, as I believe most of it is manufactured in the foundries up north. A bunch of Mexican immigrants wanting to cross the wall aren't going to have that much money on hand, someone else had to pay for it. The ladder was probably paid for by the coyotes or drug-smugglers. They have plenty of money.

ETA: The vertical lengths don't appear to have been tied together.
