my sister family of 5 gets 300 a month. They eat a lot of pasta. Our doctors tells us to eat less pasta and more fruit and veggies but she can't afford it with her food stamps. She has no income but they kicked her off food stamps when her youngest turned 18. She has liver psorosis, and a multitude of other problems like leaking whenever she has a period but they won't give her disability because they say she can do a sit down job. So I pay all the bills which isn't fair on me. If I wasn't here she'd be on the street with her two kids and our mother. It definitely is cheaper, which is why they buy it. Their actual benefits one month at a time is shit.junk food is cheaper than fruit and veggies.
No, they are very generous with the food stamps. But what happens is that people get together and pool their SNAP's cards together. Whatever they don't use they sell for cash.
Something doesn't sound right with your story.
I almost had to apply for disability myself this year, but I barely passed the physical for my job so I can work....at least for another year. Anticipating the worst, I contacted SS about disability. They told me I do indeed qualify, provided I am out of work for at least one month because of my disabilities.
I explained to them I can work, but not by government standards. They told me as long as I can provide proof, I am eligible for compensation.
I guess the question I have is, did your sister have any physician document that she has no ability to work? Because one of my tenants just got SS disability, and she is still working. She was working part-time before she applied, while she applied, and now that she is accepted, still working even though she's limited to how much income she's allowed to have.
Hahahahaha...if you think getting disability is easy, you are out of your fucking mind. You will be hard pressed to find a single person that got disability in less than two years... or longer. It almost always goes through appeals and finally a hearing before someone gets it or not. So let's say you are disabled and single, how do you live for 2+ years with no income and no one to support you?
I heard of that claim, but found it was urban legend when my tenant was accepted. Her husband works full time. She works part-time. She has a laundry list of medical problems, and she got on SS disability in less than five months. She never hired a lawyer, didn't go through any appeals, and never quit her job.
