If parents do not take parenting seriously and get help for their children when they are having trouble adjusting, the school should have hearings and assessments on students who show traits of mental issues. Parents should be held responsible for not locking up guns or other weapons in their homes and the kids get them and act out their vicious fantasies.


I also blame video games for the violence that our children are exposed to. I liked it when a sheriff refused to name the student who shot innocents recently. Don't let these kids think that their names will be known through the media for the evil they do.

I'll disagree with you here. The US has 330,000,000 people. In terms of the earth's population, that is about 1/15 or whatever. So 14/15's do not live under the 2nd Amendment's allowance for you to get a gun relatively easily.
Lets chop that number in half to 7/15's or 2.8 Billion folks that live in nations that are somewhat advanced and modernized. Undoubtedly there are males who have "crises of masculinity" as you so deftly put it in China, Japan, India, etc... Moreover, as women begin to ascend to higher social levels in these nations, you'll have scores more of these men who are being emasculated figuratively. While you could argue about the cultural value system, Hollywood would be the first to the tell you that it values much more what movies a Chinese teen is attending in Hong Kong more than what an American in Houston is attending. They launch the same movies worldwide and the teens are seeing the same scenes of James Bond, Tony Stark, Star Trek, Star Wars, Hunger Games, etc... Harry Potter was set in London!!! Books? They read the same books. Television shows are pretty much the same. Wars? Europe has seen combat hundreds of more times than the US. Australia was once a penal colony if you want to talk about deviant behavior.

Anyway,you have males who are frustrated simply by the law of big numbers. And you have the same influences by and large.

The only major difference is the 2nd Amendment and a Wal*Mart willing to sell you as many weapons as you can afford.

Results count. This is what is going to happen here if we continue to have these senseless shootings. Either engage in constructive efforts to put an end to those, or see these kinds of laws enacted here.

It took almost a decade for the homicide rate to drop there after the gun confiscations. It is very likely that such laws had absolutely zero impact on the number of people that were violently killed over there - just like there was no effect in England or Canada. If the best that you have is a steady/increasing trend line in homicides but you don't have as many mass shootings then the law was entirely ineffectual.

The overall number of people violently killed is what we need to decrease - not the absolutely minuscule victims of mass shootings so you don't have to deal with the sad story on the news.

Where else can they be guaranteed a large collection of unarmed, vulnerable targets, with many uninterrupted minutes to blow away as many people as they like before the cops get there?

Is there a viable way to cut down the numbers of such shootings, and/or the body counts?

Many of the whackos (people who actually start shooting into crowds, at malls, post offices, schools etc.) know it is a suicide mission. The idea that they may be killed, obviously doesn't deter them... in that way, anyway.

But what most of them want, is to go out with a huge splash. They want huge headlines after the fact, crying and wailing about the ten or twenty or thirty innocent people who died, how horrible it all is, wailing and gnashing about what we could have done to prevent it, three-page exposes about the shooter's disturbed childhood and how unfair society was to him, etc. etc. To their twisted minds, that's worth getting dead over.

But if they show up at their planned execution site, start pulling the trigger, wound the first person, miss with the next shot, and then get get shot through the middle of the bod by someone in the crowd they never suspected might have his own gun, next day's headlines will be much less lurid. Some nut pulled a gun and fired two shots, wounding one. The wounded person is now recovering in the hospital, and the nut is dead, end of story. He's a footnote on page 28, if that.

And THAT's what the whackos don't want to happen. They want huge headlines and weeks of media coverage, even after they are dead, that's mostly why they're doing it.

If everyone is allowed to carry, most people still won't bother. I probably wouldn't most of the time. But some people will. And a nutcase like this guy will never know which people in the crowd, are the ones with their own gun. Could be the granny in the wheelchair over there, whose kids were killed in a home invasion robbery five years ago, who swore she'd never go unarmed again, and never misses her weekend hour or two at the practice range.

2. Be sure the purchaser is sane

3. Any background of criminal activity should preclude ownership

Last but not least....get politics and the NRA out of the thing completely. The NRA is nothing more than a political tool of the arms manufacturing industry

Exactly my point. Just imagine the huge bureaucracy that will be created between the mental health care professionals and law enforcement. There will be monitoring, spying, and invasion of privacy of individuals merely "suspected" of being mentally unstable. Then you have all the false accusations, and of course if your record shows that you are too mentally unstable to purchase a gun then there is no way you can get a job either. The trampling of people's civil rights under these conditions in my opinion is much worse than amending the constitution and the outright banning of guns.

There are problems but that doesn't mean we must put up with being slaughtered regularly by insane people. We HAVE to have the option of locking them up before they kill. These are not rational people. They cannot be allowed to run at will like mad dogs until they finally kill ppl.

Wouldn't be a thing wrong with a 45 day waiting period and checking to be sure a person was sane before selling them a gun. Cutting out parking lot gun shows would help too.

I'll disagree with you here. The US has 330,000,000 people. In terms of the earth's population, that is about 1/15 or whatever. So 14/15's do not live under the 2nd Amendment's allowance for you to get a gun relatively easily.
Lets chop that number in half to 7/15's or 2.8 Billion folks that live in nations that are somewhat advanced and modernized. those are the big ones moron…….and they each could have been as bad as Port Arthur, the shooters all had guns in a country that confiscated guns and in particular pistols………and just last week a 15 year old immigrant teenager got a gun and murdered the police employee………he could have just walked into his school….

  • 25 October 2003 – Greenacre double murder – A man and a woman are shot dead in a house in the suburb of Greenacre, Sydney which was the result of a feud between two Middle Eastern crime families, 24-year-old Ziad Abdulrazak was shot 10 times in the chest and head and 22-year-old Mervat Hamka was shot twice in the neck while she slept in her bedroom, up to 100 shots were fired into the house from four men who were later arrested and convicted of the murders.
  • 26 July 2004 – Security guard Karen Brown shot dead armed robber William Aquilina in a Sydney carpark after he violently bashed her and stole the hotel's takings. Brown was charged with murder but acquitted on the grounds of self-defence.[66][67]

• 18 June 2007 – Melbourne CBD shooting – Christopher Wayne Hudson opened fire on three people, killing one and seriously wounding two others who intervened when Hudson was assaulting his girlfriend at a busy Melbourne intersection during the morning peak. He gave himself up to police in Wallan, Victoria on 20 June.[71]

• 10 April 2010 – Rajesh Osborne shot and killed his three children, 12 year-old Asia, 10-year-old Jarius and 7-year-old Grace before killing himself in Roxburgh, Victoria.[citation needed]

• 28 April 2011 – 2011 Hectorville siege – Donato Anthony Corbo shot dead Kobus and Annetjie Snyman and their son-in-law Luc Mombers and seriously wounded Mr Mombers' 14-year-old son Marcel and a police officer at Hectorville, South Australia before being arrested after an eight-hour stand off.

• 29 January 2012 – Giovanni Focarelli, son of Comancheros gang member Vincenzo Focarelli, was shot dead whilst Vincenzo survived the fourth attempt on his life.[79]

• 28 April 2012 – A man opened fire in a busy shopping mall in Robina on the Gold Coast shooting Bandidos bikie Jacques Teamo. A woman who was an innocent bystander was also injured from a shotgun blast to the leg. Neither of the victims died, but the incident highlighted the recent increase in gun crime across major Australian cities including Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide.[citation needed]

• 23 May 2012 – Christopher 'Badness' Binse, a career criminal well known to police, was arrested after a 44-hour siege at an East Keilor home in Melbourne's north west. During the siege, Binse fired several shots at police and refused to co-operate with negotiators; eventually tear gas had to be used to force him out of the house, at which point he refused to put down his weapon and was then sprayed with a volley of non-lethal bullets.[citation needed]

• 15 December 2012 – Aaron Carlino murdered drug dealer Stephen Cookson in his East Perth home by shooting him twice in the head and then he cut up and dismembered his body. He buried his arms legs and torso in the backyard of his house and he wrapped his head in a plastic bag and dumped it on Rottnest Island. The head of Cookson was later found washed up on Rottnest Island by an 11-year-old girl. Carlino was convicted of the murder and was sentenced to life in prison.[citation needed]
• 8 March 2013 – Queen Street mall siege – Lee Matthew Hiller entered the shopping mall on Queen Street Brisbane Queensland armed with a revolver and threatened shoppers and staff with the revolver, causing a 90-minute siege which ended when Hiller was shot and wounded in the arm by a police officer from the elite Specialist Emergency Response Team. Hiller was then later taken to hospital and was treated for his injury; he pleaded gulity to 20 charges and was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in jail with a non-parole period of two years and three months.[citation needed]
• 29 July 2013 – Two bikie gang associates, Vasko Boskovski and Bassil Hijazi were shot dead in two separate shooting incidents minutes apart in South West Sydney. The previous week Bassil Hijazi had survived a previous attempt against his life after he was shot inside his car.[citation needed]

• 9 September 2014 – Lockhart massacre – Geoff Hunt shot and killed his wife, Kim, his 10-year-old son Fletcher, and his daughters Mia, eight and Phoebe, six before killing himself on a farm in Lockhart in the Riverina district near Wagga Wagga New South Wales. The body of Geoff Hunt and a firearm are later found in a dam on the farm by police divers and a suicide note written by Geoff Hunt is also found inside the house on the farm.[citation needed]

• 22 October 2014 – Wedderburn shootings – Ian Jamieson shot dead Peter Lockhart, Peter's wife Mary and Mary's son Greg Holmes on two farm properties in Wedderburn, Victoria over a property dispute. Jamieson surrendered to police after a three-and-a-half hour siege.[citation needed]

• 7 November 2014 – Jordy Brook carjacked a Channel 7 news cameraman at gun point during a crime spree on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. He was later captured and arrested by police after luring police on a high speed chase and crashing the car.[citation needed]

• 12 November 2014 – Jamie Edwards and Joelene Joyce a married couple who were drug dealers are found shot dead in a car on a highway in the town of Moama, New South Wales.[86]

• 15 December 2014 – 2014 Sydney hostage crisis – Seventeen people were taken hostage in a cafe in Martin Place, Sydney by Man Haron Monis. The hostage crisis was resolved in the early hours of 16 December, sixteen hours after it commenced, when armed police stormed the premises. Monis and two hostages were killed in the course of the crisis.[87]

• 27 June 2015 – Hermidale triple murder – the bodies of three people, two men and a woman are found shot dead on a property in a rural farming community in the town of Hermidale west of Nyngan, the bodies of 28-year-old Jacob Cumberland his father 59-year-old Stephen Cumberland and a 36-year-old woman were found with gun shot wounds, the body of Jacob Cumberland was found on the drive way of the property, the body of the 36-year-old woman was found in the backyard of the property and the body of Stephen Cumberland was found in a burnt out caravan on the property. 61-year-old Allan O'Connor is later arrested and charged with the murders.

• 10 September 2015 – A 49-year-old woman is shot dead in a Mc Donald's restaurant in Gold Coast by her 57-year-old ex partner, who then turned the gun on himself afterwards and shot himself dead.

• 2 October 2015 - 2015 Parramatta shooting On 2 October 2015, Farhad Khalil Mohammad Jabar, a 15-year-old boy, shot and killed Curtis Cheng, an unarmed police civilian finance worker, outside the New South Wales Police Force headquarters in Parramatta, Australia. Jabar was subsequently shot and killed by special constables who were protecting the police station.

The highlighted shootings are shootings that either qualify as mass shootings or missed being mass shootings only because the shooter didn't decide to be a mass shooter…in each case, they could easily have murdered more people, targeted schools, or theaters and some actually did target malls..


So no….gun control in Australia did not work.

those are the big ones moron…….and they each could have been as bad as Port Arthur, the shooters all had guns in a country that confiscated guns and in particular pistols………and just last week a 15 year old immigrant teenager got a gun and murdered the police employee………he could have just walked into his school….

And these are just the crimes they reported on in wikipedia…drive by shootings are up, teenagers carrying guns is up, gun crime is going up in Australia…but our media won't cover that because they need Australia to work…..

So gun violence there is a very small % of what it is here and the difference is media coverage?

No,the difference is the criminal culture……their criminals get guns as easily as ours do…they just don't use them as much…..culture, economics and race relations all dictate violence levels….and sadly for them, their criminal culture is getting more violent and using guns more……in all of those countries…..

2. Be sure the purchaser is sane

3. Any background of criminal activity should preclude ownership

4. Shut down all gun shows or any semblance of one

5. Hang mass shooters in the public square in front of the courthouse...by the scrotum

Last but not least....get politics and the NRA out of the thing completely. The NRA is nothing more than a political tool of the arms manufacturing industry

Worth a try. Hard part is determining who is and isn't sane, and who gets to make that call. Most mentally ill people don't ever see a professional. If anybody sees anything wrong it would be their friends or family. And there are plenty of people living on the verge.

Exactly my point. Just imagine the huge bureaucracy that will be created between the mental health care professionals and law enforcement. There will be monitoring, spying, and invasion of privacy of individuals merely "suspected" of being mentally unstable. Then you have all the false accusations, and of course if your record shows that you are too mentally unstable to purchase a gun then there is no way you can get a job either. The trampling of people's civil rights under these conditions in my opinion is much worse than amending the constitution and the outright banning of guns.

There are problems but that doesn't mean we must put up with being slaughtered regularly by insane people. We HAVE to have the option of locking them up before they kill. These are not rational people. They cannot be allowed to run at will like mad dogs until they finally kill ppl.

Wouldn't be a thing wrong with a 45 day waiting period and checking to be sure a person was sane before selling them a gun. Cutting out parking lot gun shows would help too.
