What? Is that supposed to be a response? No, I can't currently file joint Federal taxes with my spouse. We have to file joint CA taxes and separate Federal. Next year we will be filing joint taxes because DOMA will be repealed.

That was supposed to point out the advantages, to he, of not being married. By the way, federal ans state tax laws are different, something you will actually find out next year if DOMA is repealed. (By the way, it probably should be.) I would suggest you actually run the numbers before you switch to filing a joint federal return.

Most of that shit in your other link is bullcrap, you can get those benefits without being married, especially the medical benefits. Rule of thumb, any poll that has 100% of respondents giving an answer is very unusual. I have never seen a poll where there wasn't somebody that didn't have an opinion.
