(i) REQUIREMENT.Notwithstanding any other
provision of law, after the effective date of this subtitle,
the only health plans that the Federal Government
may make available to Members of Congress and
congressional staff with respect to their service as a
Member of Congress or congressional staff shall be
health plans that are
(I) created under this Act (or an amendment
made by this Act); or
(II) offered through an Exchange established
under this Act (or an amendment made by this
Act).
Read it and weep.

There used to be a time when I chalked a lot of this kind of thing up to just not knowing the facts, and God knows there's a lot of that going on. It's like when you're a kid and a friend tells you something, and you believe it. And because you believe it, you go out and do something or say something that you later come to regret because you find out that, intentionally or not, you were mislead. From that moment on, if you have any smarts at all, as The Who once sang, you "Won't Get Fooled Again".
But this keeps happening over and over again with the right. Consequently, it can't be plain ignorance. They're intentionally lying. And why would that be? Because when the truth is not on your side, some people feel like they have to lie if they're going to change public opinion toward their position. So, the simple truth is that conservatives lie about everything. Why should this be any different?
