The Republicans have gone quite Orwellian while simultaneously projecting it all on the right.

They can’t win the Culture War through hearts and minds, so they force it on us through legislative fiat. This so-called “Parent’s Rights” movement is actually a well funded national think tank that is about as grass roots as astroturf.

And…it isn’t even “parent’s rights”, it is the “rights” of a small group of parents overruling any dissent through legislation or intimidation: death threats, harrassment, threats to family members, assaults, false police reports.

There are parents who WANT their kids to learn about events from a black perspective, who feel gay people shouldn’t be excluded from public life and made invisible and that medical decisions rest with parents and doctors.

These people claim they are “for the children” yet they actively and deliberately deny inclusivity to non-conforming children, children of minorities whose history in America was long suppressed. These children are not allowed to discuss or learn about history or current culture from the perspective of their people in school, they cannot find identity and acceptance through the characters in the restricted selection of books now allowed, or the movies the schools are allowed to show them.

I would think that if they cared about the kids, they would be concerned about the effect this has on the most vulnerable children, but it’s not about that is it?

Homophobia is is rampant in parts of Africa, with countries like Uganda legislating strict punishments and jail terms for homosexuality Thanks to the work of Christian Mega Churches. I wonder if that is the long game of the current Republicans?

Humans don't live in an ant colony. They should learn American history, its inception its governing structure, the Founders, etc. Other country's histories can be covered as another subject like World History. The proper word is 'whose.' You didn't learn very well apparently.
