She is 18, only eight years younger than you. Legally, she is an adult. And she is a highly productive one. You can probably stop attempting to insult her anytime now.

She is probably a highly productive adult/student/younger teen prior, because of her parents rules, focus, and pushing her to be the best. Financing sports, cheer leading, basketball, etc. Hospitalizing her and seeking counseling when problems arose.

Its obvious to me these parents cared, its also obvious Rachel cared and abided by rules to attain the status she had as a great student, before getting suspended on several occasions, and kicked off of the cheer team and other clubs within the school.

It seems to me that both her parents and Rachel were focused and accomplished, then something happened which changed this. IDK what it was, but Rachel's parents were probably an influence which helped her attain her good grades and other achievements.

Its a shame that other parents have butted in and have caused such a rift within this family. They should have been able to work through whatever issues there were without outside influences which allowed Rachel to do whatever she wished without parental consent.

Fact: the parents have most of the truth on their side.

Unquestionable facts: if she done that at 16 or 17, she would have gone to a psychiatric hospital for teen girls who refuse to get it; if she were 18, she would be removed from the home.

I often look back and know I am lucky to be raising the kids I have instead of the kid I was. That's just how we learn to be better parents.

Still, these kinds of stories are simply heart breaking.

A New Jersey teenager claiming that her mother and father tossed her out of their home and cut her off financially is suing them for immediate support, current private-school fees and future college tuition. The parents, meanwhile, say that daughter Rachel Canning, 18, moved out voluntarily after refusing to abide by their rules.

“We love our child and miss her. This is terrible. It’s killing me and my wife,” Rachel's father, Sean Canning, a town administrator and retired police officer, tells the Daily Record. “We have a child we want home. We’re not Draconian and now we’re getting hauled into court. She’s demanding that we pay her bills but she doesn’t want to live at home, and she’s saying, ‘I don’t want to live under your rules.’” The rules, he notes, include reconsidering her relationship with a boyfriend who may be a bad influence, being respectful, and abiding by her curfew. He and his wife, Elizabeth, who live in suburban Lincoln Park, about 25 miles outside of New York City, have kept their daughter’s car because they paid for it, says Canning, and he admits that they did stop paying Rachel's tuition at the private Morris Catholic High School. A hearing is scheduled to take place on Tuesday in the Morris County Superior Court.

Now that she's an adult perhaps the parents should sue her for the money they've wasted on her thus far. We all have to live by rules we don't necessarily like or agree with but it's just the way it is. When (if) I break the rules then I can expect negative consequences.
