Tell me liberals .. Why is it racist to ask for an ID for voting but not for

Some barrier. How hard was it to get a fake ID so you could get into clubs as a kid?

Good Bubba, you agree, it's easy to gt a fake ID so why worry about this non existent someone going to the poll and stealing an election, one vote at a time??? lol
It's one step closer to ensuring it doesn't happen. At least you agree it's not hard to get an ID, so now we'll stop hearing about some non-existent undue burden. Good to hear it.

Strawman Bubba, but since you bring it up, how about taking your gun to the NRA convention? lol
Uh, lots of people are taking guns to the NRA convention. That's what it's all about.

The places they prohibit CCW are places that have rules against it, so the NRA, being a law-abiding, respectful organization, abides by them. Amazing, isn't it?

Go to the doctors office or hospital?
I've been ask for ID even in a state that does not require it...
That was a fun story, little old guy.

I did refute it, several times. NRA convention goers are allowed to carry weapons everywhere except where a venue has rules against it. I found that in your own post, so how much more plain can it be? You're simply wrong.

Yes, why not restrict voters since there is NO LOGICAL or reasonable expectation of any type of voter ID fraud going on right? Let's just put up hurdles, for no apparent reason and see IF they jump through the hoops. *shaking head*
Restricting voters to only those eligible to vote is a good thing. Most people understand that.

Which is NOT the purpose of the GOP voter restriction laws. Weird
Requiring an ID, and providing one free of charge, applies to all. It's about as equal as it gets.
OH state ID:
$8.50, good for 4 years. $2.125 per year.
Procedure and acceptable documentation:
ODPS BMV State Identification Card
ODPS BMV Acceptable Identification Documents
So much for the inane "undue burden" argument.

Sure Bubba, because it's NOT like the poor live right next to the DMV and can just pop over on their 3 martini lunch right?

Are you saying the poor cannot afford alcohol? And, the last time I checked, the DMV is not usually located in the ritzy parts of town.

Your argument has gone from being simply wrong (there is no racism if everyone is held to the same standard) to offensive (as if Hispanics and blacks are too intellectually or financially challenged to afford something that is free) to buffoonery at it's zenith (now, it's because they are blue collar workers by and large?).

A bit of advice "bubba"...quit while you are behind.

I don't doubt the GOP's motive is to limit the number of minority voters.

I do doubt the minority voters are really trying if they can't get an ID to vote.

And there it is. A prediction was made, tongue in cheek, that the next complaint would be how far people have to travel to vote. I didn't expect to see it be made real, at least not so fast. Now I'm just waiting for the second part to come true, a demand that poll workers go door to door, gathering ballots.

With voting by mail and absentee voting, they practically do that already. All the more reason the liberal position on this is BS.

You will never get equal outcome, all you can do is provide equal opportunity. That's what this is.

Are voting laws requiring photo IDs inherently racially discriminatory, as Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg maintained in her blistering dissent Saturday morning?

A team of politician scientists from Appalachian State, Texas Tech and the University of Florida took on that question for an article just published in Political Research Quarterly (h/t: Justin Levitt). Their conclusion is that the claims of proponents that they're just upholding the principle of ballot integrity can be discounted; the photo ID laws aim to disenfranchise Democratic voters; they cite findings that the raised cost of voting imposed by photo ID requires "falls overwhelmingly on minorities." In other words, the answer is yes.

How racism underlies voter ID laws the academics weigh in - LA Times

“Texas did not begin to demonstrate that the Bill’s discriminatory features were necessary to prevent fraud or to increase public confidence in the electoral process,” Ginsburg wrote in her dissent. What follows are the XX major points that she wrote:

1. This was a dispute about facts not fears. Unlike many other voting rights lawsuits, civil rights attorneys in this case did not sue without showing that there were real victims and harm. Ginsburg noted that important distinction writing that there had been a “full trial and resting on an extensive record from which the District Court found ballot-access discrimination by the State.”

2. But the Fifth Circuit Appeals Court ignored that.

3. Texas’ previous voter ID requirements are ample. Ginsburg noted that the state would not be left without any legal means to ensure eligible voters were getting ballots at polling places. “Texas need only reinstate the voter identification procedures it employed for 10 years (from 2003 to 2013) and in five federal elections.”

Says the "moderate" lol

Why Voter ID Laws Aren’t Really about Fraud

Voter fraud generally rarely happens. When it does, election law experts say it happens more often through mail-in ballots than people impersonating eligible voters at the polls. An analysis by News21, a journalism project at Arizona State University, found 28 cases of voter fraud convictions since 2000. Of those, 14 percent involved absentee ballot fraud. Voter impersonation, the form of fraud that voter ID laws are designed to prevent, made up only 3.6 percent of those cases

Why Voter ID Laws Aren t Really about Fraud Government Elections Politics FRONTLINE PBS

Texas’ Republican attorney general and candidate for governor Greg Abbott doesn’t believe Texas’ redistricting discriminates against minorities.

It just discriminates against Democrats — who happen to be largely minorities,
he admitted in a letter to the Department of Justice defending the state’s voting maps:

DOJ’s accusations of racial discrimination are baseless. In 2011, both houses of the Texas Legislature were controlled by large Republican majorities, and their redistricting decisions were designed to increase the Republican Party’s electoral prospects at the expense of the Democrats. It is perfectly constitutional for a Republican-controlled legislature to make partisan districting decisions, even if there are incidental effects on minority voters who support Democratic candidates.

Giving Romney Pennsylvania

It doesn’t get more blatant than what Pennsylvania’s House Republican Leader Mike Turzai said in June of 2012, as he listed the Republican state legislature’s accomplishments: “Voter ID, which is gonna allow Governor Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania, done.”

“I think we had a better election,” Pennsylvania’s GOP chairman Rob Gleason said in July. “Think about this: We cut Obama by 5 percent…I think Voter ID helped a bit in that.”

The opposition to voter ID is a creation of democrat operatives to gin up support for lib/progressive candidates.
