Who in Texas has the authority to fire elected officials other than the voters?

The governor has the authority to call a special election for elected officials who have voluntarily left office.

He needs to hold special sessions for bills Dems want. COVID relief bills, funding for hospitals, environmental bills

That won't work. NONE of those bills have a chance to pass even if the Dems show up, so why bother. This is political theater, at best.

He has authority to proceed with the replacement process....he does not and should not have that power as an immediate remedy....nobody should have that. However the longer they stay the more likely it is that you will see a wave of special elections.

Anybody wanting to retain their seat would be required to return and appear in court....BOOM...arrested. Quorum.

It is the initial step in replacing them...this is the legal process. They have to be offered their options first...if they turn them down...which apparently they all have....the next step is to approach the Texas SCOTUS to certify special elections in all of those districts.... The Court will then notify the absentees of a time limit after which the elections will be held. If those are democrat replacements and they also flee.... I expect that a highly unusual order would come from the Texas Scotus authorizing Quorum notwithstanding.

Abbott should just start appointing replacements right now and let the chips fall.

The only person with standing to oppose Abbott replacing each fleeing Dem is that very Dem who fled. They must file a lawsuit to stop it and appear in person to proceed. When they appear in court to fight Abbott's replacing them, have the bailiff arrest them immediately. Abbott doesn't even need to be right about whether he can simply appoint replacements. He just needs to force a response. It becomes moot after that.

Most Texans are pissed at those Flee-bags. There is no moral high ground.

Abbott should just start appointing replacements. Let each flee-bag Dem challenge him in court, and when said flee-bag appears, arrest them.

Or if they don't appear, have the case dismissed, the appointments seated, and get a super majority to do all sorts of damage to the Dems.

If they do not return to fulfill their duty (They swore an oath to it), then they SHOULD be arrested. But more importantly, they should be removed from their office for any number of reasons. Violation of oath, failure to fulfill their duty and obligation to the people....
