He has the option, but it would be challenged in court. He has that option....I would wager that he is secretly cheering them on to stay away.....this is not a smart move at all.

When you put a price on their heads, they will not returnThey haven't returned yet. Even you should understand he can make the trial balloon.
See how quickly they scramble.
They may not have that ability at the moment. My point is maybe that should change.Who in Texas has the authority to fire elected officials other than the voters?
OKThe governor has the authority to call a special election for elected officials who have voluntarily left office.
That won't work. NONE of those bills have a chance to pass even if the Dems show up, so why bother. This is political theater, at best.He needs to hold special sessions for bills Dems want. COVID relief bills, funding for hospitals, environmental bills
He has authority to proceed with the replacement process....he does not and should not have that power as an immediate remedy....nobody should have that. However the longer they stay the more likely it is that you will see a wave of special elections. If he had the authority, he would have already done it
And said Dem would be promptly taken into custody....BOOM...quorum.OK
If true, their district will just elect another Democrat to replace them
Yes....every one of those democrats beat out a primary challenger......five'll get ya ten that most of them would jump right in there.OK
If true, their district will just elect another Democrat to replace them
On what grounds? And said Dem would be promptly taken into custody....BOOM...quorum.
the court will determine bond (the price) when they return. When you put a price on their heads, they will not return
Yep....I could see a prolonged legal battle there for sure.He has the option, but it would be challenged in court.
I would float it as a trial balloon. Get the GOP to back it and then watch them squeal like the pigs that they are.
Anybody wanting to retain their seat would be required to return and appear in court....BOOM...arrested. Quorum.Yep....I could see a prolonged legal battle there for sure.

There is no price. Just a promise of consequences for their actions. When you put a price on their heads, they will not return
There is no price. Just a promise of consequences for their actions.
It is the initial step in replacing them...this is the legal process. They have to be offered their options first...if they turn them down...which apparently they all have....the next step is to approach the Texas SCOTUS to certify special elections in all of those districts.... The Court will then notify the absentees of a time limit after which the elections will be held. If those are democrat replacements and they also flee.... I expect that a highly unusual order would come from the Texas Scotus authorizing Quorum notwithstanding. There is no price. Just a promise of consequences for their actions.
Most Texans are pissed at those Flee-bags. There is no moral high ground. So why should they return if they will be arrested?
Right now, they have the moral high ground
Fighting voter suppression
Abbott has to win it back
They fled their duty under the Texas Constitution. So why should they return if they will be arrested?
Right now, they have the moral high ground
Fighting voter suppression
Abbott has to win it back
With their voters, they doThey fled their duty under the Texas Constitution.
THEY HAVE NO MORAL HIGH GROUND
They are NOT fighting voter suppression. They are fighting vote integrity.
If they do not return to fulfill their duty (They swore an oath to it), then they SHOULD be arrested. But more importantly, they should be removed from their office for any number of reasons. Violation of oath, failure to fulfill their duty and obligation to the people....
Interfering with a legitimate Government mandate ....
According to you and the rest of the left, that last one is called, Insurrection.
