Damn, the US really should start paying workers less than a dollar and hour to get the first place back..
or we could pay everyone a " living wage" of $100/hour and put everyone on welfare. Or, here's a better idea, pay every american 100K per year no matter what they do, whether they work or not, or whether they are brilliant or dumb as a sack of nails. Everyone equal, all the same-------------liberal utopia.

Ok, what it is it? What is a "living wage" in manhattan, miami, fargo, baton rouge, boise, detroit, amarillo?
Living wage rates would have to be defined somewhat locally. As the cost of living differs so radically from region to region. I don't think you'd be able to set a national standard that was particularly effective. I don't even think a state rate would work. You'd probably have to set a rate based on the CoL of a particular area to be useful.
said another way-------let supply and demand in each local market set the price of labor.
