Yep, That's why they felt the need to have Congressional Christian Chaplains.

ya know you really should stop making yourself look like such a fool. Suck it up and admit you are wrong...and got your ass beat in the tread.
Trust me, this argument has not been settled, let alone by USMB loons.
It will never be settled because there will always be propagandists who insist that the founding fathers weren't REALLY Christians, and Thanksgiving isn't REALLY a Christian holiday, and our country wasn't REALLY founded on Christian tenets...despite what the founding fathers said and wrote.
And as long as people keep propagating the lie, historians and those who aren't following some weird anti-Christian agenda will continue to say "you're wrong."
You're wrong.
Jefferson also felt his faith was between him and God, and the government should have no part it...

As a matter of custom Thanksgiving may be a Christian holiday, as a matter of law it is not.
Jefferson also felt his faith was between him and God, and the government should have no part it...
And he believed all men were capable of sin. Evangelical Baptists were actually supporters of Jefferson who was a religious skeptic versus a non-believer but he was a fighter for religious liberty. He believed the check and balance of powers were needed because of the sins man was capable of in his life when seeking power. Religion was most definitely intertwined through the lives of the founding fathers.

Jefferson entertained the thought of establishing a state religion, and the Danbury Baptists chimed in via correspondence which gives us the term "separation of church and state".

It's an American holiday based on and rooted in Christian tradition.
so...its NOT a "christian" holiday. Simple as that.
It is actually a holiday rooted in every culture on earth... christian or not. Harvest festivals have been around longer then the christians.![]()
OK atheist put your money where your belief is. on thanksgiving day do not take off that Christian holiday with pay. After all Thanksgiving is giving thanks that thing you ridicule christian's about.
What other countries celebrate thanksgiving, btw?
Doesn't matter how it started, now its just an excuse to stuff your face and sit on your butt in front of the TV.
