They used a national emergency to enlist a hostile, mercenary force, the US Postal Service, that saw the election of the people’s choice as the possible end of their unionized existence, to contaminate the voting structure with fraud.

I started school in 1954- I don't remember any such thing- I do remember "drills" in case a tornado was headed our way, or an atomic bomb was dropped though- I'm pretty sure that elementary students didn't discuss civics other than in passing reference- our "current events" discussion were, IIRC, Sputnik- I learned about the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution on my own, as an adult- in school I did learn reading and word comprehension and that 2+2 = 4- which is actually pretty simple- and I determined, from that simple equation, that if someone said differently they were lying- later in life, I learned (the past 13 years to be precise) that politicians lie- their stripe has nothing to with it- I also learned that rhetoric is not action- results determine what action was taken- (2+2 ain't coming out 4 in the US political arena) so somebody is lying-
