Romney was right in saying that he should not bother trying to win over the 47% who would never vote for him and he could never win over.

Probably he was.

But then when he went on to denounce them as lazy and victims, while talking to people who paid more than most of them make in a year to hear him talk, that's where he screwed up.

Sorry, Mr. Romney, most of the 51% who voted for Obama have jobs (despite douchebags like you sending the good ones off to China or Mexico) and pay taxes (a much higher percentage of their income than the 11% you paid on the tax returns you'd actually release.)

They bust their asses so people like the 1% who were at that dinner can live the good life.

If this is what Romney really believed, why wasn't this the center of his campaign? Because he knew people would be offended by it, and rightfully so. But get him in a room of his fellow rich douchebags, and lo and behold, the real Romney came out from behind the curtain.

Early in that tape, Romney describes deplorable working conditions at a Chinese factory he visted and muses about barbed wire fences and watch towers. When he's told that is to keep the unemployed OUT..he's absolutely delighted.

Dirty Politics is spreading a rumor that someone had fathered a black child out of wedlock, like Bush operatives did to John McCain in 2000.

What got Romney into trouble is what he said. Not how it was acquired and not how it was broadcast.

The thing is, the GOP is taking all the wrong lessons from 2012. Instead of trying to understand why working class people are voting for the Democrats, they are throwing up their hands and screaming about "Free stuff".

Here's the tragedy of the whole thing.

Republicans used to get working folks. They used to get working class values. Reagan never would have said what Romney did. Neither would have Ike or Nixon or Ford. None of these guys were born with silver spoons in their mouths.

Nixon's early life was marked by hardship, and he later quoted a saying of Eisenhower to describe his boyhood: "We were poor, but the glory of it was, we didn't know it."

The real problem here is that the GOP has become so removed from where working folks are, that they have lost it. Oh, they'll still have that 47% that will vote for them, no matter one, ironically enough. Heck, despite everything that's happened to me in the last decade due to Republican mismanagement, I might have voted for a GOP Candidate who wasn't Romney.

They need to reconnect.

Do you suffer from some brain disease where your reaction to every problem requires a reference to Obama or finding something Obama did that was somehow worse?

I pay quite a lot in taxes... of the money I made last year (less than the cost of a plate at that dinner), I paid about 23% of it in Income, Medicare, Social Security and Property taxes. That doesn't include probably another 8% I paid in sales taxes on consumer items I had to buy.

The Federal Income Tax isn't the only tax. It's the ones Republicans hate because it's graduated to make the wealthy pay their fair share.

Here's the thing. At a certain point, I realized that i'm not rich, and therefore should stop voting for rich people's interests when they screw me at every oppurtunity. That's why Romney lost.

And it weren't for bible thumping and gun-toting morons in the same boat I was in, he'd have gotten about 20% of the vote.

He had recorded Clinton at an event in the past and wanted to record this one too.


There were several cameras OUT and fliming the speach and NO one stopped them.
