The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees announced the 6th Syria Regional Response Plan covering 2014 last Monday. The United Nations, which has announced the biggest call for global aid with the aim of applying the plan, requested $6.5 billion in financial aid for those suffering from the civil war in Syria that has been ongoing for 33 months. The United Nations predicts that $2.27 billion of this aid will be spent on 9.3 million people in Syria and the rest $4,2 billion will be spent on the 4.1 million Syrian refugees who have taken refuge in the countries of the region.

While the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Valerie Amos and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees António Guterres were calling for the biggest aid of all time, they also drew attention to the extent of the violence that has been going on in Syria.
