The battle for the House will be fought among the college-educated

'The House districts with the closest races in the midterm elections tend to be more educated than the rest of the country. Of the 30 districts currently rated as "tossups" by Cook Political Report, two thirds have a higher prevalence of college degrees than the national average.

Why it matters: It's yet another sign of potential midterm trouble for Republicans, since 28 of those races have a Republican incumbent and President Trump did best with people without college degrees. Strategists from both parties think it'll come down to how suburban voters react to Trump.

The backstory: A Pew survey in March 2018 showed that Trump's approval was highest among those who had never been to college, and a FiveThirtyEight analysis in November 2016 found that Hillary Clinton excelled in higher-educated counties.

What they're saying:

  • Democratic operatives say Trump is toxic in the suburbs, and they believe their message of standing up to Trump performs best with educated voters.
  • Republican strategists, however, believe most of the voters in these districts are still Republicans, and that they'll vote to stick with GOP policies regardless of how they feel about Trump's rhetoric.'
The battle for the House will be fought among the college-educated

In other words, since we know Trump's base are generally uneducated and that the average educated person has a higher-than-average IQ. Trump/Reps are hoping smart people do not vote this November.

115?

Mere talking monkeys.

Basically, Trump generally does well with stupid people, generally not so well with smart people.

That - to me - PERFECTLY describes the Trump administration.
Ah, the college educated that nominated Hillary Clinton, eh? Such genius!

LOL...do you realize how nonsensical your replies seem to be?

So...your argument this time is that smart/educated people are actually stupid because many of them voted for a politician who got the most votes in an election?

Actually what we are talking about is suburban voters. IN Ohio 12, the Republican share of the suburban vote dropped by 25 points. The real problem Trump has is suburban women voters. Democrats have been doing better with this group than Clinton did in 2016. In 2016, Clinton won the women's vote in Virginia by a 52-41 margin. The Democrat candidate for Governor won the female vote by 61-39, a 22 point margin.

"According to a recent NPR/PBS/Marist poll, nearly six in 10 suburban women strongly disapprove of the president's job performance. More than two-thirds somewhat or strongly disapprove compared to just one-quarter who approve. In contrast, roughly 50 percent of suburban men - twice as many - approve of President Trump.

By a two-to-one margin, suburban women are more likely to vote for the Democratic candidate this fall. And women tend to outvote men."

Trump's woman problem may cost the GOP the House

The popular vote wins the House and Senate. This process has little to do with 2016.

If you're evidence of "smart/educated", I'll take stupid/uneducated all day every day. You shit-for-brains that spent 12 years getting a degree in basket weaving and think you're better than everybody else are the most annoying little pricks walking the face of the Earth.
They aren’t even smart enough to realise they paid for and got into debt for college indoctrination rather than a college education.

Very true

Motivation is key
If Republicans do not get out, it could get ugly

The battle for the House will be fought among the college-educated.

Adlai Stevenson is credited with this quote:

"A woman approached Senator Adlai Stevenson when he was running for president, saying, "Senator, you have the vote of every thinking person!". The Senator is often credited with responding: "That's not enough, madam, we need a majority!"."

I find this interesting. The less educated people are probably not following the evening news as much as the people with college degrees. So this good news about Trumps accomplishments are going to be absorrbed by the more educated. And the less educated are probably getting hired along with the rest of the population so they are being impacted by the good economic conditions.

I just wonder about the "fact" that Trump supporters are less educated. Could this be just another example of fake news?

I have plenty of college educated friends that voted for Trump. Its not just us dumb high school folks who voted for the man. LOL
Same here. Do I would like to know where this idea that the lower the education the higher the support for Trump.
Polls, including exit polls from 2016. You know, asking people question like "which did you vote for" and "what is your education level".
