The surge had nothing to do with the turnaround in Iraq. The Sunni awakening turned Iraq around starting almost a year before any surge troops were deployed. Even General Petraeus acknowledged that.

We have a volunteer military. My son joined just after the Iraq war began. All of our military know what they're in for if they join. Nobody forced them to do this. My son tells me that if Obama had been president at the time, he would have never joined. They trusted Bush and most still do.
Just like Bush had the power, so does Obama. Why did Obama go to bed on the night of the Benghazi attack and not stay on his job and making sure everything was done that could be? With your logic, Obama IS responsible for the deaths of those 4 Americans that night. Twice as many military have died under Obama than had under Bush in Afghanistan, in only 4 yrs. I guess that blood on HIS hands, isn't it?
