The Bush legacy

"Under Bush there was 575 dead young Americans, the rest occurred and are still occurring under obama."

That is a flat lie by Katz. For shame.

Where's the lie? Why don't you find another source that gives another number??

575 US troops died in Afghanistan during the Bush presidency. By August 18, 2010, following two troop surges initiated by President Obama, that number had doubled. Today, over 1500 US troops have died in Afghanistan since President Obama took office—and yet, little in that war-torn country has changed.
U.S. Deaths in Afghanistan: Obama vs Bush | Just Foreign Policy

neither did Clinton or Obama, and if you people claim they did, that is a insult..

9,000 Americans died under Bush "keeping us safe"

More than Obama, Clinton, GHW Bush, Reagan, Clinton, Carter and Ford combined

What did GWB do to kill anyone you idiot?
and where did the number 9000 come from?

Do you understand what "Keeping us safe" means ?

9-11 Deaths 3000
US Soldiers killed in Iraq 4500
US Contractors killed Iraq 1500

Total 9000

Bush was cavalier in his attitude toward committing US troops to war without showing the proper due diligence to verify that Saddam actually DID have WMDs. After all, the inspectors were actually IN Iraq serching for the evidence (which they never found) until Bush had the UN withdraw the inspectors because he was chomping at the bit to start the war before the beginning of summer. Certainly, the Iraqi sources should have been viewed with a high degree of skepticism considering that they all had personal motivations to want Saddam overthrown and they couldn't be expected to concern themselves with the cost in American lives. It was Bush's job to be concerned about American lives.

No question about it

After seven years in Afghanistan, Obama still had to clean up the mess left by Bush. If only Bush had done the job right and not abandoned Afghanistan to engage in his blunder in Iraq all those American soldiers could have been saved

1. Bush abandoned the war on terror to pursue an invasion of a country that was not a threat and not involved in terrorism in the US
So the 1991 CEASE FIRE NEVER EXISTED? AND during 13 years dozens UN resolutions a majority vote by Congress never happened?
Bush totally singularly with NO authorization invaded with NO other countries involved PLANNED all by himself right???

2. Bush trumped up charges of a perceived WMD threat based on selected intelligence and withheld intelligence that downplayed the threat
So were these people BEFORE BUSH totally MISINFORMED???

BEFORE BUSH!!!!

"..deny Iraq the capacity to develop WMD".Bill Clinton,1998

"Without a question, we need to disarm Saddam. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime .... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction .... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real ...."Kerry , Jan. 23. 2003.

3. Bush underestimated the size of the invasion force needed to control Iraq
NO BUSH respected the Majority of experts who said the military campaign was enough AND IT WAS!!! Over in 6 weeks!
BUT when like the Harvard study showed... idiots probably like you said these words that ENCOURAGED the extension over 6 years..
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid(D) "The war is lost, the surge is not accomplishing anything "

U.S. Rep. John Murtha(D) "Our troops killed innocent civilians in cold blood,”

Senator Kerry (D) "American soldiers going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children."

Durbin (D) "must have been done by Nazis, Soviets"--action of Americans in the treatment of their prisoners.
Senator Obama said "troops are air-raiding villages and killing civilians,"

4. Bush prematurely declared mission accomplished
NO he was 100% correct the MILITARY surrender of Saddam occurred!

5. Bush believed that Iraq would "Treat us as liberators"
I agree as did most other reasonable people and we were wrong!

6. Bush was unable to curtail the inevitable Civil War after Saddam was deposed
WHAT CIVIL WAR?????
7. Bush failed to build an effective international coalition

48 countries... here is the list:
“President Bush is assembling a Coalition that has already begun military operations to disarm Iraq of its weapons of mass destruction, and enforce 17 UNSC resolutions.”

and that already 48 countries, all of whom “understand the threat Saddam Hussein’s weapons pose to the world”, were “publicly committed to the Coalition”, including:

Afghanistan, Albania, Angola, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Colombia, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Eritrea, Estonia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Mongolia, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Palau, Panama, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Rwanda, Singapore, Slovakia, Solomon Islands, South Korea, Spain, Turkey, Uganda, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States, Uzbekistan

On 3 April 2003, the number of Coalition members rose to 49 with the addition of Tonga, and that’s where it stands at the time of writing.

The White House boasts that this Coalition is drawn from every corner of the world, with every major race, religion and ethnicity in the world represented in it, with a total population of around 1.23 billion and a combined GDP of approximately $22 trillion. (It doesn’t mention that almost 50% of the latter is due to the US economy).

The next time you hear a Coalition spokesman from Qatar, remember s/he is speaking on behalf of all these 49 countries. The fact that spokesmen for the Coalition have always been either American or British up to now is sheer coincidence: Palau will get its turn shortly.

8. The decision to invade cost over 100,000 Iraqi lives and 5000+ American lives
AND freed 28 million people of which 50,000 a year were starving because Saddam was violating the embargoes!

"crumbling sanctions that would, in short order, have restored Saddam Hussein to full economic and regional power, well positioning him, post-sanctions, to again threaten his neighbors and restart his WMD program."

Sorry Chuck, the cry from the war-party(ies) was that he had not only reconstituted his WMD program and was actively producing but also he was already stockpiling massive amounts.....

"The occupation was a disaster" Say, Chuck got one right. It sparked the continuing civil war.

"Finally, the surge, a courageous Bush decision"

Bush was forged by both parties to change course in the Iraq occupation. The surge was one part in the much needed change of strategy.

The surge had nothing to do with the turnaround in Iraq. The Sunni awakening turned Iraq around starting almost a year before any surge troops were deployed. Even General Petraeus acknowledged that.

to this day there are still 6000 munitions with chemical war heads missing
500 were found after the invasion

My biggest dis respect for the left are these lies that surrond these events just so they could get power back
100% lies

More typical Jr's revisionisms.

Fact is SCR 1441 that the Bush administration agreed to, was being implemented and the chief inspector never called for the SC to reconvene over any thing they found, or because they were not allowed to do their jobs.

Again the number of alleged (6000) munitions was made up or an estimated number from the amount of precursors Iraq had purchased and the number of weapons or chemical that they could prove to the inspectors were used or destroyed. 6000 is a very small % of what Iraq had.

Those 500 degraded shells were made possible by Raygun. Thanks Ronnie!

Clare Boothe Luce liked to say that “a great man is one sentence.” Presidents, in particular. The most common “one sentence” for George W. Bush is: “He kept us safe.”

Using this sentence to describe the President during 9-11 is insulting

so under Clinton or Gore this would not have happened?......

You can make all the arguments that you want that it was not Bush's fault

You cannot make the argument that he kept us safe

We have a volunteer military. My son joined just after the Iraq war began. All of our military know what they're in for if they join. Nobody forced them to do this. My son tells me that if Obama had been president at the time, he would have never joined. They trusted Bush and most still do.

Just like Bush had the power, so does Obama. Why did Obama go to bed on the night of the Benghazi attack and not stay on his job and making sure everything was done that could be? With your logic, Obama IS responsible for the deaths of those 4 Americans that night. Twice as many military have died under Obama than had under Bush in Afghanistan, in only 4 yrs. I guess that blood on HIS hands, isn't it?

Charles Krauthammer: The Bush legacy - The Washington Post
A great opinion wrote by CK of the post

Let me add not only was both wars a success, his tax rates created millions of jobs until the wealth boom caused by greed and not policy crashed in 08
To me GWB biggest failures were
Immigration reform
Not funding Medicare D
And no child left behind
in 2007 this country stood at the door step of a balanced budget, the last GOP budget
BHO and the dems added 700 billion to that base-line by 2009 and along with the press gave blame to W

A truly great president during 8 very difficult years

Bush legacy:

Number of jobs added during 8 years of Clinton: 30 million.

Number of jobs added during 8 years of Bush: 3 million (and I am not counting all the jobs LOST due to the crash, which puts Bush deep in the red on job creation)

TARP: $700 billion

National Debt: Doubled

Wars started : Three (Iraq, Afghanistan, Terra)

Government Size and Power Expansion:
1) Massive new cabinet level Department (DHS).
2) Domestic spying without warrants
3) Torture of prisoners
4) Suspension of habeas corpus for US citizens
5) Seizure of citizens' library reading lists
6) Massive new unfunded entitlement program (Medicare Part D)
7) Expanded the size of all but two government departments

The two departments Bush shrank were the SEC and the EPA. This was followed by the implosion of the global derivatives bubble, and the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Coincidence?

hey G....i like Clinton.....but how many of those 30 million jobs were minimum or close to it wage jobs?....

The statement that Bush kept us safe is an insult

You may make all the arguments you want that it was not Bush's fault.....You cannot make an argument that "He kept us safe"

neither did Clinton or Obama, and if you people claim they did, that is a insult..

9,000 Americans died under Bush "keeping us safe"

More than Obama, Clinton, GHW Bush, Reagan, Clinton, Carter and Ford combined

RW....should not "keeping us safe" just include us here in the Country?.....guys fighting a war in some shit hole is different....as far as i am concerned.....
