There are LOTS of people claiming the NFL players are exercising their first amendment rights by kneeling while at work.

No, they are fucking not.

Hell there are people who claim that when USMB here deletes a post that USMB is violating their First Amendment rights- some people are idiots.

No, they are fucking not.

They are exercising their First Amendment rights. Surely you know that. What the issue is (and I'm glad to help point out the correction for you) is that their business is NOT violating their First Amendment rights if they penalize them in some way. However, that becomes a bit of a gray area when the so-called president (part of the government) tries to influence a private business to penalize people for exercising their First Amendment rights...or tries to threaten a business for letting their employees exercise their First Amendment rights.

The First Amendment protects from government trying to silence voices it doesn't want to hear. The First Amendment protects the protesters from government censure. This means that no matter how much the protesters might piss off Trump, there's not a goddamned thing he can do about it as President. He can throw a fit on national TV. He can embarrass the nation with vulgarity. He can shit himself in a shameful, hot mess. But he can't touch the football players for snubbing him.
