However, one specific provision in the House proposal should raise eyebrows. The House Republicans have scaled back a summer school lunch pilot program, so that it will be applied to rural areas only. The pilot program which was introduced with an initial expenditure of 85 million dollars, has been scaled back to a 27 million dollar expenditure going forward, with urban areas being completely cut out of the funding.

So while predominately white impoverished rural counties will benefit from the program, predominately black counties in the Mississippi Delta, majority Hispanic counties in the Rio Grande Valley, and Indian Reservations out West will not be included.

For instance, Republicans love to say business is fleeing California and moving to states like Texas. The TRUTH is, companies with minimum wage jobs move to Texas. Because there are so many uneducated Texas who will work for piss wages.

Companies that rely on innovation, research and development, move to states like California and some Eastern states because they need to be near research and development facilities. I've posted facts on this many, many times. But anti education Republicans don't want to hear it.

What that has to do with what I said, I don't see the connection.

Now I'm not saying don't raise taxes. They have to be targeted. Raising taxes willy nilly can do more harm than good.

I didn't say raising taxes "willy nilly", I was very specific in the taxes I would raise.

And if you just pull all American bases everywhere and cut funding everywhere all at once, you just invite chaos.

I didn't say closing them "all at once". Of coarse there would be a phased reduction. And country's that still wanted our base there, we'd keep it there, as long as that country paid for all the operating costs.

As far as the defense budget, when you count all the defense related industries, the amount we pay is over $1 trillion a year. Yeah, I would cut that in half.

It has to be both targeted and phased and well planned out from the beginning. There has to be goals and it needs to be well managed.

Where do you get off saying my goals would not be "targeted, phased and well managed"?

Facts and data need to be constantly collected and analyzed. And that's another reason GOP economic policies always fail. They don't believe in study, research, education or making corrections.

Again, that has nothing to do with what I said.

So your plans come across as talking points and not serious policy, which would happen with more detail. Really well thought out plans with lost of detail based on study, research, data and analysis always have the greatest chance of success. And that's the "liberal" way.

About That Summer Lunch Program
Republicans want to target a pilot program to rural counties, but poor urban children will still eat.

I was all ready to jump on the GOP for cruelly cutting poor urban kids out of the summer lunch program, while maintaining it for impoverished rural ones, but it turns out that the full story isn’t nearly as obnoxious.

Politico’s David Rogers had a piece yesterday detailing the agriculture and food safety spending billpassed by the House Appropriations Committee’s Agriculture Subcommittee. One part of the piece caught the eyes of a number of progressive bloggers:

Liberal bloggers like Talking Points Memo’s Josh Marshall and others seized on the idea of Republicans slashing spending for city kids in favor of rural ones. But they missed a crucial piece of the puzzle – that this pilot program operated in addition to a larger ($492 million in the fiscal year 2015 bill) Summer Food Service Program, which goes to rural and urban kids alike. The $27 million for the pilot program in question is aimed at finding more efficient ways to deliver the summer lunches, but is not the sum total of summer nutritional assistance for poor children.

About That Summer Lunch Program

So, as we see, the liberals create more lies to try and make something that really isn't. It has nothing to do with the constituency base or race for that matter; more liberal lies. What it has to do with is EXTRA funding due to the delivery system needed to service kids that live miles and miles away from their schools instead of an urban setting where a kid can walk to the school, take a bus, or otherwise get a ride from an adult.

Furthermore it's a pilot program. For you liberals out there, a pilot program means a test program. It is also about school lunch when school is out of session which is something I'm totally against no matter who is involved. It's bad enough all the money we have to pump into these failed schools, but now we have to pay to keep them open to do the job liberal parents won't do.
