This past summer, my daughter was temporarily assigned to West Point as a logistics officer to provide support for the incoming freshman class and cadet summer training. COVID was running rampant through her troops. She was down for a week with it.

Recruitment is down because the traditional pool of people that joined the military are normal straight young males. Called derisively today, by the liberal loons as toxic masculinity individuals, they are now discouraged from joining.
The focus in the last decade has been the "Woke" push to recuit homo's and liberal beta males. Hardly the type of individuals that make tough fighting soldiers ready for combat.
Plus, normal straight males aren't joining. Because they find the idea of having to take orders from an effinate gay Sargeant or having to salute a transgender Officer wearing a dress to be repulsive.
