At the most, taxation can only help increase government handouts like welfare. It does not help in any way the private economy, business side or the employees.

The OP is on the right track. But the news is worse than it states. Used to be when consumers drove the economy, there was a deep domestic supply chain that kicked I to action.
Today just more container ships dock in Long Beach and stock clerks and truckers just keep the shelves full. You cannot maintain this cou try on service jobs.
