The left in Europe may have finally overplayed their hand. Between a major immigration crisis from Africa causing upticks in crime and a drain on their social safety net programs and climate policies hitting rural folks hard, the right wing parties have made large inroads while the far left Greens have suffered.

Far-right parties are predicted to win a record number of seats in the European Parliament, a result that, if confirmed, would deliver a stinging rebuke to Brussels’ political mainstream and add uncertainty to Europe’s future direction.

After three days of voting across the European Union’s 27 member states, an exit poll showed that far-right parties were set to win around 150 of the parliament’s 720 seats, which will likely make it harder for mainstream parties to form majorities needed to pass laws.

They underperformed.

A few weeks ago, the far right was running level with the moderate right. They gained a few seats, but for the most part, the swing was to the moderate right.

Nonetheless, a message has clearly been sent, particularly when you consider Macron's decision in France. Whether or not the momentum lasts is another story, of course.

You are displaying the rotten view of the "left" madness by overplaying the use of the word "far right". I am pleased to see that you have understood that there is a "moderate" right but I'm not sure you understand what it means.

In what order would you place the Taliban and the American-backed prior government of Afghanistan with regards to "far rightism"?
The Taliban is way out on the right wing.

Afghanistan is more tribal and has been taken over by just about everyone.

They went from a bunch of tribes to a more or less centralized government.

The moment we left they went back to the Taliban reversing every bit of progress we made.

Only reason we were still there is because arms manufacturers were making money.

The Taliban have fiercely outlawed the common practice (and American 'blind eye') of "bacha bazi" in Afghanistan. Do you consider that to be "way out on the right wing" and part of the "reversal of American progress"?

The vast majority of Americans have no idea what you are talking about but then they didn't undestand it in Vietnam either.

The Taliban are conservatives. Progress, according to the left, means women could attend school and be seen in public without being covered head to toe with an extreme Hijab.

Thanks to Biden women are to be covered again like they were before we drove the Taliban out.

You are defending "bacha bazi" by comparing it to the hijab? May God forgive you.

I'm not defending anything. Especially when it comes to men fucking boys.

The whole premise of getting into Afghanistan was based on a lie by the Bush administration.

And sorry if I'm not living in the era before Christ.

Leftists notably silent about it on the board. Huh
