John Bolton: The war on terror is not over, Al Qaeda has not been defeated and we have no strategy!

Fox News
February 1st, 2013

In light of our embassy bombing in Turkey this morning, John Bolton said that if we don’t face up to the reality that the war on terror isn’t over and that Al Qaeda hasn’t been defeated, we’ll see even more bombings from terrorists that are more successful in their eyes.

The war on terror is not over. Al Qaeda has not been defeated. The struggle is spreading and if we don’t face up to that reality we’re going to have another attack on an American embassy that will be even more successful from the terrorist point of view.

Can anyone take anything that John Bolton says seriously?
The man is the definition of NeoCon, Bolton is a paranoia salesman for the right.

obama does have a strategy. It's obvious that he does. Republicans don't want to believe obama's strategy.

It is to destroy the country that obama hates, the US. Everything he does is designed to that end.

Why does this surprise you?

The U.S. hasn't had a strategy, or an end goal, for their so called 'war on terror' since day one.

Imagining that every attack on the USA is done by some central authority is rather foolish.

Plenty people hate us who aren't associated with the boogie man Al Qada.

Of course you are so smart and knowledgeable you can't even spell al Qaeda properly.

You do realize that it's a translation from arabic to english?

So any spelling is acceptable........

Keep posting idiotic crap like that and your fellow Muslims - although a branch of different insanity, the Shiites - will go on the hunt for you.

So when exactly did you think this war on terrorism was finished and won in the first place? Acts of terrorism are now everyday occurrences that no one country is immune from, regardless of what the media and fools in Washington proclaim.

Al Qaeda is about as dead as the Republican Party.

Both of which is declared DEAD by the idiots who can't seem to realize that elections run in cycles, and their turn is coming in 2014 then, in 2016.

Maybe it was a spontaneous act resulting from posts made on a right wing forum or FOX news?

Does John Bolton know that terrorism is a phenomenon that is as old as human history?

So, if we beat Al Qaeda then the war on terror will be over? That is, assuming you can find a way to beat an idea with military force.

The Turkish government is speculating at this point that the attack was carried out by an outlawed Marxist group in Turkey.

Which of course in the rightwing propaganda machine insanely translates into being Al Qaeda that the Obama administration does not acknowledge exist.

Defined this way, it is a war doomed to failure from the moment it left the mouth of the president.

If it is a war (constitution?), it is against an ideology. When it was the Nazis, it was easy; the ideologues were fairly concentrated in der Vaterland. When such political plans are as dispersed as in this case, it is hopelessly unlikely that it can be definitively confronted through military means.

If the ideology they follow is the strongest, it will 'win'. If yours is stronger, it will.

Ironically, the Right loves to claim that Ronald Reagan won the Cold War, despite the fact that Russia still has a few thousand nuclear weapons pointed at us.

By that logic, President Obama should be able to claim he's won the war on terror, even if a few thousand al qaeda affiliated terrorists are still on the loose.

EH?

A muslim marxist group is a contradiction that would not happen. Fundamentalist islam is not disposed towards Godless marxism. Such a marxist groups would instantly be under a death fatwa with the while of islam fighting them.

The term of marxist group being applied to these terrorists is no doubt for US consumption so democrats could say that obama isn't a marxist, he's fighting marxists.

No. A better analogy would be to say, if Al Qaeda broke up into several different factions then the war on terror is over and we won; even though there are still just as many terrorists that hate us and are armed.

But it's also not just Al Qaeda. Our real war is with the anti-american sentiment that is so rampant in the middle east. Something we will never win if we keep invading their countries and bombing them.
