There is something seriously wrong with this mans "mind"

Obama, the Interpreter of the Message of Passover

Passover recalls the bondage and suffering of Jews in Egypt and the miracle of the Exodus, but U.S. President Barack Obama says its message is reflected in Muslim uprisings.

In his annual message, prior to his third straight participation in the Passover Seder, President Obama stated, “The story of Passover…instructs each generation to remember its past, while appreciating the beauty of freedom and the responsibility it entails. This year that ancient instruction is reflected in the daily headlines as we see modern stories of social transformation and liberation unfolding in the Middle East and North Africa.”

Islamic fundamentalism cannot be construed as liberation unless you believe Mohammad was a prophet of god.

talk about a slap in the face

God this is fucking annoying...

before you opine on the meaning of a holiday, perhaps you should spend what, 2 seconds, researching it:

"The Israelites were instructed to mark the doorposts of their homes with the blood of a spring lamb and, upon seeing this, the spirit of the Lord passed over these homes, hence the term "passover".[1] When Pharaoh freed the Israelites, it is said that they left in such a hurry that they could not wait for bread dough to rise (leaven). In commemoration, for the duration of Passover no leavened bread is eaten, for which reason it is called "The Festival of the Unleavened Bread".[2] Matzo (flat unleavened bread) is a symbol of the holiday.
Together with Shavuot ("Pentecost") and Sukkot ("Tabernacles"), Passover is one of the three pilgrimage festivals (Shalosh Regalim) during which the entire Jewish populace historically made a pilgrimage to the Temple in Jerusalem. Samaritans still make this pilgrimage to Mount Gerizim, but only men participate in public worship."

Passover - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"God had instructed the Israelites to slay a lamb or a kid and to place its blood around their doors as protection from "the plague of death". That night they ate the lamb in preparation for their march from Egypt. They were to observe this "pass over" annually in he springtime.
But the sacrifice of an innocent lamb year by year also looked forward to the death of Jesus Christ some fifteen hundred years later. In God's continuing revelation to His people the eternal concept unfolded of one individual becoming a "lamb to the slaughter" (Isaiah 53). Naturally, Christians understood this of Jesus Christ and wanted to remember it, as Jesus instructed the disciples.
Jesus was called "the Lamb of God" by John the Baptist (John 1:29, 36), and the New Testament amply verifies the symbolism. Paul, for example, wrote "Christ our Passover [lamb] is sacrificed for us" (I Corinthians 5:7)."

The Christian Meaning of the Lord's Supper and Passover

I see no justification for the assertion that it's a dilute holiday that has nothing to do with God and only celebrates *freedom*. Lol.

What idiots.

LOL and what does the Wikipedia say about the Passover Seder?

Passover Seder - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

What, what?

It says exactly what I said it means:

"The Seder itself is based on the Biblical verse commanding Jews to retell the story of the Exodus from Egypt: "You shall tell your child on that day, saying, 'It is because of what the LORD did for me when I came out of Egypt.' "

In other words, it's a celebration of the protection of God.

Meant to remind people of what they owe to God.

I don't give a shit what you believe. What we're discussing is whether PASSOVER is a celebration of FREEDOM.

It isn't. It's a celebration of God. That's what it's about. It's not about anything else. It doesn't matter if you believe in God or not. The celebration and all the rituals that go with it are in REMEBRANCE of the GREATNESS of GOD.
The eight-day festival of Passover is celebrated in the early spring, from the 15th through the 22nd of the Hebrew month of Nissan. It commemorates the emancipation of the Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt. And, by following the rituals of Passover, we have the ability to relive and experience the true freedom that our ancestors gained.

The urge to live free is the same regardless of who has it.

Apparently not. :doubt:

You ignorant retards..Passover is NOT a generic holiday meant to celebrate freedom.

It's a RELIGIOUS holiday meant to celebrate the PROTECTION OF GOD when he destroyed the enemies of the Hebrews.

I continue to be amazed by the rampant, willful ignorance of the left, and their committment to morphing every event in the world and in every person's life into a GOVERNMENT event.
Eh, it doesn't contain a gay agenda, it went right over his head

Yeah no correlation between the Jew winning their freedom from slavery and oppression and the Arab on the streets fighting for freedom from oppression. Okay they are not quite slaves to the King, but close.

Somethings wrong with somebodies mind.

Baracknaphobics.

They are not fighting for freedom.

They are fighting to make people act the way they want them to act.

The best we can hope for is a singular theocracy. If not, expect these freedom fighters to turn on each other.

Yes there are many who are fighting for western style freedoms.

Yes there are theocrats who are fighting for a Theocracy

Yes I expect there will be much in-fighting between the various groups.

I think it's great how the President get these religionist's panties into a tight wad. It's hillarious.

Really?

You think the leader of our nation insulting our only ally in the ME and millions of Americans is hillarious?

You might want to re-think supporting a leader that treats America and it's allies like they were nothing.

and plz, none of this; But Bush did...... crap.

Uh..okay? It's observance of a particular event orchestrated by God...and reliving and experiencing the true freedom that Jewish ANCESTORS gained.

So does that sound like a generic "freedom is great for everybody!" holiday?

Thank you for proving my point?

 Silly Babble. You said it wasn't about freedom. It most certainly is.

The Jews didn't win their freedom. PASSOVER is a celebration of God protecting the Jews when all the first born in Egypt were killed.

It's not a celebration of FREEDOM. It's a celebration of the PASSOVER, when the Holy Ghost passed over all the households that had lambs blood on the door.

What about this is so difficult? The whole point is that they didn't EARN their freedom. It was granted to them by God, and that is what the celebration is about.

Not about fighting for freedom. That's just stupid.

Sorry I read the article and the President was participating in the Passover Seder.

The Seder is a ritual performed by a community or by multiple generations of a family, involving a retelling of the story of the liberation of the Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt.

Since I don't believe in a God who grants gifts to us mortals, I'll believe they earned/won their freedom. You can certainly call that stupid. I'll hold off on my opinion of you.

He makes a mockery of a Jewish religious event to make POLITICAL talking points.

The man is a total talking point whore.

 Silly Babble. You said it wasn't about freedom. It most certainly is.

It's about freedom brought about by God for a very specific group of people (which I said) and it's a celebration of THAT particular religious event. Passover is not just a general celebration of freedom. The whole purpose is to praise God and remember the SPECIFIC EVENTS that occurred when God intervened on behalf of the Hebrews. Specific events. And God. Freedom was granted for OBEDIENCE to God, even...because those who didn't obey the commandment to paint the door post with lamb's blood lost all first born in the household.

It's NOT about freedom in general. It's inappropriate and insulting to pretend that Passover can be stretched to encompass Islamic struggles; particularly when they struggle because they can't seem to keep from attacking Jews.

Naw. The media is anti-semitic and anti-religious; so anything that can water down religion (well except Islam) and paint Jews and other infidels in a negative light, they'll run with.

You really don't know you're stupid, do you?
No, but I do know you are...you, like fitnah, think he is talking about something he is not.

Well that's because we go by what he actually says, instead of replacing his words with what we THINK he should have said.
hahahaha! Fitnah is the one that did that. He is not talking about islamic fundamentalism throwing off their oppressive governments, you twit. He's talking about moderate muslims throwing off their oppressors.

Quit using Jews as tools, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Dude, it was an Easter Prayer gathering. You know, Easter, which divulges Christianity away from Judiasm. The Seder is a jewish thing, not a christian thing.
