They kept "finding" votes in Broward County as I recall. Quote from the article:

They didn’t “find” votes, but had to work through the votes that were cast. Counting absentee ballots takes more time.

My state has 100% mail in ballot.

We get the results the evening of the election.

They start counting the ballots as soon as they start coming in. They don't leave it for only one day of counting only on Election Day. By Election Day a lot of if not most of the mail in ballots have already been counted.

When we didn't have mail in voting our senatorial election in 2000 took a couple weeks to get the totals and winner. It was finally certified November 23rd.

The voting was mostly at the polls not mail in voting.

No we don't. Worth noting that not all votes are counted on election days. Overseas and military ballots often have to be postmarked by election day. For example, in Georgia all ballots have to be postmarked by election day 5PM.

Many states allow mail in voting as late as the day of the election. Worth noting that tax forms are not required to be in the office by April 15. Who cares if the votes arrive after election day as long as they are postmarked by theb time the p;olls close.
