This is the Age of Censorship!

Reagan continued the modernization of our military forces began under Carter.

Reagan, because of Iran Contra, caused 100s of officers and 1000s of NCOs to leave the Armed Forces. Many did not want to serve a government that sent munitions to the enemy.

Militarily Iran Contra was INSIGNIFICANT, even though we gave them some high tech stuff. The amount given didn't MEAN JACK SQUAT TO OUR MILITARY on the Battlefield at all. Their abilities versus ours is like a bug hitting the windshield of a Semi. INSIGNIFICANT.

CAPITALIZED WORDS do not make comments any more significant or more correct.

None of the rebuttal above reflect the betrayal the American military felt with the public release of Iran Contra, or the fact that many experienced officers and NCOs left the Armed Forces.

I don't give a rats arse about the spelling police. I'll Capitalize when and where I choose to do so. If you don't like it, then take a hike. I don't believe in Political Correctness, and say what I choose to say.

I served during that time, and I guess the people ticked at Reagan weren't around me at all. Everyone loved Reagan where I was at, I guess you get your information about NCO'S from the Boy Scouts.

Secondly, just because you say it's so, doesn't make it so. You just posted that information without BACKING IT UP WITH CREDIBLE SOURCES.

So that makes it just your opinion, as you don't back it up with Hard Data.

What a stupid fuck you are, and I know you voted for Obama.

Carter gutted the Military....I invite you to "prove" either assertion little man.

Eagle and Roo are mad that (1) Carter began the revitalizing of the military, which Reagan completed; and (2) Iran-Contra hurt morale of the armed forces.

The affirmation is theirs to prove: they are the ones who made the assertions. They can't prove it, so they will attack me personally in a politics forum.

Too funny little man, do you actually think anyone buys this drivel of yours?

You've yet to provide a single source for ANY of your assertions .

Little man, can you prove your assertions?

OK, you can't disprove that Carter began revitalization of the Army and that Iran-Contra hurt the morale of the Armed Forces.

You made the assertions prior, so you have to begin the evidence. You can't.

LOL. PC, you dingbats lost the last election with nonsense like this. You will lose the next election in 2016 for the same reason.

We lost because we don't fight back against this strategy.

We win if we have the guts to strike back with the Facts and not the BS of the Leftist Pravda Machine.

Americans are disgusted with the Political Idiots. I'd like to see a poll, to all Americans today. The question.............

Would we get better results at elections if we just threw darts at names in a Stadium to become elected than our present system where we get the best politicians money can buy.

aka. dart hits your name, your a Senator. Now go fix this MESS these IDIOTS HAVE GOTTEN US INTO.

We are on a road to ruin Financially. We have historical evidence on what works and what doesn't work. It is clear that the CURRENT POLICIES aren't working, and the policies of those like Reagan worked and are working in States like Texas.

But let's just ignore what works and feed the people the current line of BS that is taking our Dollar down the toilet.

Poor Jake, so much ignorance, so little intelligence.

Carter had inherited a wide variety of tough problems in international affairs, and in dealing with them, he was hampered by confusion and uncertainty in Congress and the nation concerning the role the nation should play in the world. A similar state of mind prevailed in the closely related area of military policy, and that state of mind affected the administration. At the beginning of his presidency, Carter pardoned Vietnam War draft evaders and announced that American troops would be withdrawn from South Korea. He also decided against construction of the B-1 bomber as a replacement for the aging B-52, regarding the proposed airplane as costly and obsolete, and also decided to cut back on the navy's shipbuilding program. Champions of military power protested, charging that he was not sufficiently sensitive to the threat of the Soviet Union.

In recent years, the Soviets had strengthened their forces and influence, expanding the army, developing a large navy, and increasing their arms and technicians in the Third World. As Carter's concern about these developments mounted, he alarmed critics of military spending by calling for a significant increase in the military budget for fiscal 1979, a substantial strengthening of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) forces, and the development and deployment of a new weapon, the neutron bomb. Next, he dismayed advocates of greater military strength by first deciding that the bomb would not be built and then announcing that production would be postponed while the nation waited to see how the Soviets behaved.

In both diplomatic and military matters, the president often found it difficult to stick with his original intentions. He made concessions to demands for more military spending and more activity in Africa and became less critical of American arms sales. He both responded to criticism of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and sought to restore its effectiveness, regarding it as an essential instrument that had been misused.

Critics, including Henry Kissinger, Henry Jackson, and many Republican senators, found him weak and ineffective, confusing and confused. They suggested that his administration had "seen that its neat theories about the world do not fit the difficult realities" and that "it must now come to grips with the world as it is." One close observer, Meg Greenfield of Newsweek magazine, wrote in 1978 that while "many of our politicians, more traumatized than instructed by that miserable war [Vietnam], tend to see Vietnams everywhere," more and more congressmen "seem . . . to be getting bored with their own post-Vietnam bemusement," and "under great provocation from abroad, Carter himself is beginning to move."

Two dozen companies commit to leaving California | News - KCRA Home

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KCRA) —Two dozen California companies have said they are tired of the business-bashing in Sacramento, along with the high taxes -- and they are now threatening to leave the state.

The day after Proposition 30 passed, triggering $6 billion in new annual taxes, Arizona launched a campaign to lure some of California’s top companies.

KCRA 3 has learned that 24 chief executives are flying to Phoenix, Ariz., to explore the land of lower taxes and a much friendlier business environment.

“We can deliver the mayors, we can deliver the CEOs, we can deliver the legislative support,” said Barry Broome, president of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council.

Broome launched his campaign to recruit California CEOs one day after voters in the Golden State approved Prop 30 last November, and the campaign is working.

Broome said 24 CEOs already have committed to leaving California.

“You start sending the wrong message to those folks and they start voting with their feet,” Broome said.

Dave Albertson is one of the people who found greater opportunities in the Grand Canyon State.

Albertson recently moved his marketing and technology company, Wholesalefund, from California to Arizona, where he now does business in a Scottsdale office park.

He told KCRA 3 that companies leave California for three primary reasons: “High taxes, excessive regulations and the threat of really ridiculous lawsuits.”

And they are leaving for places such as Arizona, a state that means business.

Yes it has, but they still don't get it, and also don't get why their Tax Revenues are down. Yet they want this for the whole country.

Most of Reagans debt was spending on the military.
He also was turned over an ECONOMY IN RUIN. Stagflation, Gas Lines, Double Digit Unemployment.

Yet he Turned the Economy around, and ended the Failed Policies of Carter.

While the debt went up a TRILLION, which wasn't a good thing, he tried to pass legislation aka SPENDING CUTS on Domestic Spending, which would have brought the debt down by 100's of Billions. Congress didn't allow these cuts.

Now we have nearly 2 TRILLION IN STIMULOUS SPENDING and OUR ECONOMY IS STILL NOT RESPONDING.

Because we are USING THE FAILED POLICIES of OBAMANOMICS, which are the EXACT OPPOSITE OF REAGANOMICS.

One theory worked, and ONE ISN'T WORKING even though they THROW MONEY AT THE ECONOMY like it was candy at MADI GRAS. It doesn't work, because you CAN'T ATTACK BUSINESSES and expect them to INVEST AND CREATE JOBS.

Which is exactly why we need another REAGAN and not an ECONOMIC IDIOT like Obama.

Texas is another SHINING EXAMPLE OF WHAT WORKS. But let's just ignore that as well, as we DRIVE OUR COUNTRY DOWN THE PATH TO HELL.

There are so many cluster bombs Reagan dropped that haven't detonated yet they will continue to maim the American worker for generations.

The true irony of Ronald Reagan; he created a mythical 'welfare queen' used to deconstruct the middle class and trash the poor. Yet Ronald Reagan was the ultimate welfare queen.

As the liberal era that began with the New Deal came to an end with the splintering of the Democratic Party brought about by assassination of Presidents and future Presidents, the Vietnam War fiasco and conservative money creating 'think tanks', JFK and LBJ, the last two Presidents of that era faced the awful specter how to deal with revenue SURPLUSES. Public debt was not even part of our lexicon...

Enter Reagan, the welfare queen. Put everything on the Beijing credit card and dump the bill on our children, grandchildren and their children and grandchildren.

Reagan switched the federal government from what he critically called, a “tax and spend” policy, to a “borrow and spend” policy, where the government continued its heavy spending, but used borrowed money instead of tax revenue to pay the bills. The results were catastrophic. Although it had taken the United States more than 200 years to accumulate the first $1 trillion of national debt, it took only five years under Reagan to add the second one trillion dollars to the debt.

Ronald Reagan, "The Great Communicator" inherited a notably high 7.5% nation wide unemployment rate. He drove that unemployment rate to 10.8%.

For ten of the 16 months in the Reagan recession, the unemployment rate exceeded 10%, reaching a high of 10.8% for two months in late fall of 1982.

Reagan’s objective was to implement his theory of “Reaganomics,” which was based on stimulating the economy with tax cuts, tax credits and accelerated depreciation (supply-side economics).

Reagan’s primary catalyst to achieve this objective was the passage of the Economic Recovery Tax Act (ERTA) in July of 1981, which introduced phased-in reductions in marginal tax rates that were substantial. ERTA was however a “bridge too far” and failed miserably creating massive budget deficits and weakening the economy, culminating in a severe recession which lasted through 1982.

Luckily Reagan saw his error, and with the passage of TEFRA (Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act) in September of ‘82, the economy began to get its footing back. TEFRA became the remedy to ERTA. In fact, TEFRA was the largest peacetime tax increase ever signed into law by any of our presidents, and ironically it was a Republican, Ronald Reagan, who signed it into law.

TEFRA kicked off one of the most substantive bull cycles in our financial history: one that endured for more than five years. Reagan deserves credit for backing TEFRA and for its powerful economic result. However, few realize it was Democrat Pete Stark of California who sponsored TEFRA. Had it not been for Reagan’s pragmatism and ability to work across the aisle with Democrats like Stark, Speaker of the House Tip O’Neill, and other members of Congress, TEFRA would not have happened and Reagan would likely have been a one-term president.

Riddle me this...............

If you decrease taxation with one law.
Then a year later increase some taxes.
And overall, aka between the 2 laws, you actually decrease TAXATION.

Have you just passed the largest peace time tax in History.

Secondly, you ignore the economic SUCCESSES of Reagan after turning around a chitty economy inherited from Carter.

While I don't want to get into a comparison of Bush to Obama examples the Fact remains that REAGAN turned it around.

Now we have an Obama that STILL CAN'T DO IT. Even after nearly 2 Trillion in Stimulous.

Had Obama turned it around, then I'd give credit were credit is due. So show me the MAGICAL ECONOMY TURN AROUND with Obama.

You can't because he's failing. You can't in California either because the Businesses are SICK OF YOUR BS, AND ARE LEAVING.

Failed Liberal BS policies.

It is remarkable how successful the media has been in closing down debate. Not merely marginalizing opposing voices, but actually shhhhushing those questions whose answers might prove....embarrassing.
Even momentous inquiries of an eschatological nature! Shhhhh!

1. Imagine if one were so obstrusive as to critique Obama as a Marxist, or a socialist, or a 'fellow traveler.' Even if a quotation from Obama himself were provided ( "...spreading the wealth..." "...you didn't build that..."), there would be instant shock, rejection, derision, and scoffing in disbelief.
One would be discredited...even if one were to speak of policies such as socialized medicine, that definitively Marxist program, one roundly applauded by Bolsheviks, progressives, statists, socialists, and fellow travelers.

2. What has been accomplished in our modern era is denial of reality. Not bad enough that freedom loving, individualistic, self-reliant Americans have elected a President who could accurately be identified with the terms Marxist, or socialist, or statist....but even worse, "one cannot even broach the subject without triggering an avalanche of opprobrium."
West, "American Betrayal," p.25.

3. "Even beyond the question of how Americans elected a man incubated in a radical comfort zone peopled by Stalinists, Maoists, card-carrying Communists, socialists, and postmodern revolutionaries unhelpfully obscured as "Alinskyites," and who first ran for elected office as both a Democrat and socialist (New Party) "fusion" candidate, how did this topic of crucial public interest become a conversation ender, something to wave off, frantically, like a bad smell?" Ibid.

a. " The assertion that Barack Obama is a socialist became a hallmark of the 2008 presidential campaign... “When you spread the wealth around,” Obama had said, “it’s good for everybody.” That, McCain insisted, sounded “a lot like socialism,” as did Obama’s proposals to raise taxes on the wealthy and high earners for the explicit purpose of taking better care of the lower and middle classes with that redistributed money. Republicans believed they had hit a rhetorical mother lode with this line of argument in 2008, but their efforts to make hay of Obama’s putative socialism proved unedifying, if not outright comic."
« What Kind of Socialist Is Barack Obama? Commentary Magazine

4. Who let America down?
Was it the Democrats, the party owned lock-stock-and barrel by the far Left, the socialists, the Marxists?
Was it the American public, the folks who seemed unable to get excited about anything, the folks who epitomized George Santayana's warnings?

No, it was the Right...the so-called conservative pundits who didn't scream, or make much of a fuss about the attitudes and associations of the Marxist candidate.

a. In October of 2008, on Fox, Charles Krauthammer had his chance....and, instead, pooh-poohed the socialism:

" Since the word "socialism" has reared its ugly head, let's dispose of it..... Socialism actually is when the government takes over means of production, or Lenin called the commanding heights of the economy.... Now, obviously what Obama is talking about is what we have had for a long time, progressive taxation. Now, he wants to raise the marginal income tax rate from about 36 percent today to about 39.5. It is a little higher because he wants to eliminate a lot of deductions that the other income people have, so perhaps it's in the 40's."
'Special Report' Panel Discuses Whether Obama's Tax Plan Is Socialism in Disguise; Whatever Happened to Bipartisanship? | Fox News

b. There seems to be fear from those who should give the story the prominence it deserves, and the reason was ably described by Andrew C. McCarthy as ..."fog from the vaporous arsenal to which Alinskyites resort when they know that clarity would betray their radicalism and antagonize the public."
Read more at National Review?s Andrew McCarthy Has a Sweet Jihad For You

So....American could have been a champ, but our big brothers sold us out. They had a chance to lay it all out....to make it a fight....but played word games instead.
