This shit needs to stop NOW. Ford moving ALL small production to Mexico

Guys, in 2012 I bought a Ford Fiesta. It was made in Mexico. This is not news.
That's because that pos car is popular in Mexico & not the states.
Ford is now talking about moving all production of all small cars out of the country & that is news

It's actually a great car and was ranked number 1 by US News and World Report amongst subcompact cars in 2012 when I bought it. Every review shows it as the most fun to drive of any subcompact. And now they have the Fiesta ST, 200hp 150mph subcompact that performs like a rally car because that's how it was born. Unfortunately, the automatic tranny gave the car a bad name. The standard tranny version of the car is one of the most reliable cars on the road today. One guy got 750,000 miles out of his Fiesta with photographic proof of the odometer over time. I wouldn't call that a POS if I were you. The last I heard his wife was driving it now with over 800,000.

I got the manual and have had my car almost 5 years and had no issues with it whatsoever. And it gets about 41-44mpg. And its not a hybrid.

It's also ranked 3rd by car and driver magazine.

Cheap labor is like crack cocaine to the money grabbers.
This is true.
Yet, If we make the minimum wage a mandatory $15.00 an hour, these jobs will all come back to us because companies want to pay more,, Wait, that's not it,,
Can a liberal help a white man out here? If we see companies leaving the country in search of lower wages, tell us again how raising wages wont cause companies to leave faster?

Why would a company engaged in manufacturing remain in a country with the highest corporate tax rates and punitive regulations? How can they remain competitive? I guess when the government doesn't have to bail your ass out with tax payer money it demonstrates their management is solid and can read the tea leaves.

You are looking in the wrong place.
The answer to this form of blackmail is equality and eradicating world poverty.
If the Mexicans were doing well there would be no reason for Ford to move there.

My first "proper car" was a "D" reg Ford Fiesta Pop Plus in burgundy. I got 105,000 out of it before part ex ing it.

Paid £5200 for it and got £2600 back off my next car.

Loved that car and had some wild times in it.

Congress does not need to wait for Trump or Hillary to put a stop to this bullshit.

We need legislation that says if you are an American founded company and you move your production out of country you will be required to pay a HUGE fee to ship your products back into the states.

Ford shifting all U.S. small-car production to Mexico

This trend MUST BE STOPPED. No more empty promises about creating jobs. It is time to SAVE THE JOBS.
Obviously you’re a socialist – Ford moving to Mexico is the epitome of Free Market Capitalism: private businesses have the right to cut expenses any way they can to maximize profits to enrich shareholders and investors.

It’s the fault of American workers who lose their jobs as a result of companies leaving the country, because those workers failed to pursue the education and training needed to obtain employment that can’t be moved overseas.

The days of the well-paid factory/assembly line worker have been over for decades – one can no longer earn a middle class lifestyle with a blue collar, strong back, and good attitude.

Indeed, it’s not the responsibility of Ford – or any American company, for that matter – to provide Americans with jobs; Ford’s sole responsibility is to be as profitable as possible, and if Americans lose their jobs in order for a company to be profitable, so be it.

This is conservative/Republican economic dogma 101 – clearly you’re neither a conservative nor a Republican.

'Free Market Capitalism' or Capitalist racketeering? IMO, they are the same.

It IS the responsibility of business to drive the country forward by hiring, after all, without the government they wouldn't have a business.

As I've said before. Ford is moving to build their loss-leaders.

No unions in Mexico. Cheaper to make. Good move on their part even if we don't happen to like it.
They did not need to move to Mexico to rid themselves of unions, just south of the mason Dixon line. No, it is the high corporate taxes they are fleeing from. Democrats are killing American jobs.

I have to agree about those high taxes.

One would think the Govt. and those that set those taxes would catch a damned clue and do what they need to do to keep industry and jobs in the US. A US that has the highest corporate taxes in the world.

If we have the highest corporate taxes in the world, why do corporations pay less then 12% of the total collected by the IRS?

Walmart paid 3% of total monies made in federal tax. How much did you pay?

I love the thread

Watching Conservatives attack Ford for going to Mexico while they condemn Democrats for the current condition of Detroit

I thought capitalism revolved around the actions of The Market.
According to free market acolytes on this very forum The Market will decide whether Ford has made a good move or not.
Why are so many people wanting to go against their free market principles and dictate to Ford?
Why would you introduce regulations to force Ford to stay in the US when it might not be in their best business interests?
Isn't it true that the government knows nothing about private enterprise, they fuck up everything they touch, they should be taken out of the way of The Market and private enterprise and let them get back to the business of making money?

You thought wrong. Glad to clear that up for you.

In reality, however, U.S. corporations face a high tax on additional investment with the second highest marginal effective tax rate in the OECD at 35.3 percent, according to a new study from the nonpartisan Tax Foundation.Feb 4, 2015

How Much Do Corporations Pay In Taxes?

No corporations in this country pay more than 5% of the monies they collect in federal income taxes. Thus corporations pay less than 12% of the total collected.
