Transgenderians - WTF?

OK, we have a community of people whose sexual orientation is the opposite of what is normal. Homosexuals and lesbians. We also have bi-sexuals, but who...cares?

But let's look at transgendered people. These are people who have normal gonads but believe they are, in some metaphysical sense, the other gender. So they pretend to be the other gender and try to get the medical profession to change their gonads and their hormones (and try to get the taxpayers and other insurance rate-payers to pay for it - but that's another issue). And after the change they are sexually attracted (or claim to be sexually attracted) to the sex they "used to be," making them, at least in their own minds, "normal."

What the hell do transgenderians have in common with homosexuals and lesbians? Why are they welcomed into that community?

Is the community one that is merely sexually messed up? Is that what it takes to be a member?

Transgendered identity (as opposed to someone who undergoes gender reassignment) is a kind of body dysmorphic disorder like annoexia where you perceive yourself as something other than others would. I believe. Not a widely held psychological opinion. Yet.

Some trans men are attracted to women and some are attracted to men.

The trans community and trans allies ask what pronouns a person prefers in reference to gender and let's the individual define their sexual orientation.

Don't make assumptions about a transgender person's sexual orientation.
Gender identity is different than sexual orientation. Sexual orientation is about who we're attracted to. Gender identity is about our own personal sense of being male or female (or someone outside that binary.) Transgender people can be gay, lesbian, bisexual or straight.
