As I said, the purpose of the announcement is clearly to make the tax cut a main topic of the debate in this election, and while it will not pass before the election, the Republicans have been working on a bill to make temporary tax cuts (to expire in 2025) permanent so a decision by Republicans before Nov. 6 would have exactly the same effect as a vote. Clearly the President has been successful in making these tax cuts an important topic of debate in this election, as all your quibbling about exactly when the tax cuts will be enacted makes clear. In a broader sense, this issue helps to make clear that just as in 2016 the Republicans have a clear affirmative agenda for America and the Democrats do not.Unquestionably the timing of this announcement is intended to influence the topic of debate leading up to the elections -and as you have demonstrated, it is having that effect - but it is clearly not a lie. Good point. Obamacare was a socialist money-grab for progressives and the ACA was for Conservatives. The ACA is a much better program than Obamacare. Everyone with an ounce of intelligence knows that.
