Kaul filed a class H felony against each of the three this morning in Dane County Circuit Court, according to online records. Each has an initial appearance scheduled for Sept. 19.

Kaul, who has faced criticism for the pace of his investigation into the scheme, scheduled a noon news conference today to discuss the development.

Troupis, of Cross Plains, and Chesebro, who lists a San Juan address in court records, were part of the legal team that advised Wisconsin’s 10 GOP electors to meet and cast their votes for Trump even though Joe Biden won the state in 2020. Republicans have argued that move was to preserve Trump’s legal options as he challenged the results.
