Trump: Americans Need To Move Where The Jobs Are

Trump is right on this one (God! I can't believe that i just said that!)

People have to move to where the jobs are. People also have to be willing to get whatever job training is needed to adapt to the realities of the job market.

But the OP is right also, these dumb ass red necks refuse to do either. Recently there was a huge shortage of skilled workers in the North mid-west (South Dakota?), yet the ex-coal miners never considered getting trained and moving there.

The world's economy isn't going to stop just to appease these dumb asses.

.
An article in the Washington Post reports, the Big Orange Idiot wants people to leave their homes to find jobs. Just pick up, and move.

However, the many, many conservative, white, blue-collar workers in Big Orange’s voter base still believe they have an equal opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through hard work, determination, and initiative, in the cities and towns where they grew up. Unfortunately, these conservative, white, blue-collar workers have fallen victim to the conservative business and economic policies they’ve advocated and defended for the past four decades.

During those last four decades, conservatives have argued that businesses should not be forced to pay a “liveable wage”, or be required to maintain safe working conditions, or observe workers' rights. Conservatives have consistently elected Republican politicians who serve the interests of company owners, at the expense of U.S. workers.

Conservatives worship at the alter of “Trickle Down”, and can cite the many advantages that benefit the top earners. But, they come up empty when asked how “Trickle Down” has helped the bottom 90% of the U.S. population. All evidence proves “Trickle Down” is a dud for average folks, and has since the 1980s.

During his campaign, Big Orange promised the conservative, white, blue-collar workers cheering at his rallies, that he would bring their jobs back to them. But, the manufacturing jobs that left the cities and towns where most of those conservative, white, blue-collar workers live, are gone for good, regardless of Big Orange’s empty promises.

Conservative, white, blue-collar workers also suffer from another self-inflected problem, their opposition to education, especially their enmity towards science. Rather than move with the times and gain the skills necessary for the technological advances in manufacturing, conservatives expect companies to remain mired in the past, and retain outdated and obsolete manufacturing methods.

If conservatives look at the workers who now do the jobs they lost, that being the workers in China, they would see a workforce that is educated, well trained, and knowledgeable in modern technology.

The conservative, white, blue-collar workers who voted for the Big Orange Idiot were eager to believe their willful ignorance and contempt for education would be preferred by the U.S. corporations over the better educated, better trained, and better educated Chinese workers.

Even if the conservative, white, blue-collar worker who consider taking Big Orange’s advice and moving to where the jobs are, most would not. First, they lack the necessary skills. Second, the vast majority of the high-paying jobs in manufacturing are in coastal cities that are overwhelmingly liberal. Third, the companies in these cities are interested in quality, and hire their employees based on the applicants’ education and abilities, not their race of family connections. So even if Billy Joe’s white daddy and white grand-daddy both worked for the company, it doesn’t guarantee white Billy Joe is automatically hired. Those days are gone, and it doesn’t matter what the Big Orange Idiot promised the conservative, white, blue-collar workers.

Even if the conservative, white, blue-collar workers were willing to move to China (“NO WAY, TOO MANY CH*NKS!” conservatives just shouted.), they would lack the necessary skills in Asia just as they do here in the U.S.

God you people are incredibly stupid. TERMINALLY STUPID.

If there are no jobs where you live what does common sense tell you to do?

Applying for welfare is not a valid response.

In fairness, if you live in California you complete applications for welfare and then you're done.

Where there is a will there is a way...

/----/ I met folks who refuse a job offer because the drive to work is more than 15 minutes. I asked them, a 14 commute minutes is too close and 16 minute drive is to far? It has to be 15 minutes exactly? It's just the mentality of the poor. I also saw episodes of Undercover Boss where people in rural areas drove three hours back and forth to work for minimum wage. Yes they were industrious but when asked, why not move closer to the job, they replied "I don't know." or "It's too much bother to move." or some such nonsense.

When you have a corporate job, moving is easy
The company picks up the tab and you just buy and sell a house and the company moves you.

For those in the lower wage scales, it is not so easy. Your house may have been in the family for generations, you may have responsibilities with your family and community. Moving to a new community with no contacts costs money. The working poor works paycheck to paycheck. There is not a nest egg to cover you

I moved to where the jobs were when I was a young woman and I never went a day unemployed the whole time I lived there. I hated it, but I had work. People who own homes and have to try to sell them in an economically dying area is a different kettle of fish, though. Moving costs money, and cities and booming economic areas cost a lot more to live in than areas where the economy has been slowly declining. So it's not as easy as the rich folks in Washington might imagine.

So, what's got your panties in a bunch. What Trump said, that the Washington Post agrees, or that you may have to get a job.

We don't want uneducated conservative confederate Republican Rednecks to come to Chicago. They damaged their own states they need to leave? Don't come here and damage our state.

He actually suggested that people do something they've been doing since the beginning of time?????

What next? People should sleep at night? When will this monster stop!?

They keep forgetting this nation was built by people who moved here because they didn''t like where they were originally.
The Preppy Republic

Birth-class privilege made them abandon their ancestral homelands. But their descendants re-established that here.

That's the last place anyone is moving to

"Toyota & Mazda to build a new $1.6B plant here in the U.S.A. and create 4K new American jobs. A great investment in American manufacturing! ....and don't forget that Foxconn will be spending up to 10 billion dollars on a top of the line plant/plants in Wisconsin. Consumer confidence is at a 16 year high....and for good reason. Much more regulation "busting" to come. Working hard on tax cuts & reform!" - Trump

Foxconn also promised back in 2013 to build a factory in PA that never happened. There have been several times that company has promised to build a factory that never came around.

And besides................ground breaking for the new plant isn't supposed to start for another year and a half, 2018 to be specific. They still have plenty of time to back out.

I bet the plant never gets built. Just another Trump con.

Actually since the 80's. Both here and in Colorado, he'll even Montana is getting flooded with exiles from California. At least then you could brush it off as Silicon Valley going bust or whatever, it most of those leaving are those whose thoughts are aligned with Trumps.

I'll bet you're wrong. We can revisit then.
