Use a little bit of common sense here.

This is war. Ever heard the term "war of attrition"?

Look at this chart. ISIS has been losing the ability to make money. This all happened before Trump was president.

Here's a map of ISIS control in 2015, this was two years BEFORE Trump became president.

Here's a different map, the red shows ISIS loses in 2016, dark red loses in 2015.

This was December 2015, Russia has put a lot of effort into fighting in Syria, and 2016 and 2017 were their main time of operation.

However Russia didn't send in 150,000 troops, this was just media speculation. Russia sent in 4,000 troops. However there are the "contractors". Putin's afraid of looking bad seeing Russian troops being killed. So he's developed a scheme, used in the Ukraine too, where "contractors" go and fight for various causes, pretending not to be Russian.

85 Russian service personnel have died, but over 200 "contractors" have died there too.

The US has 2,000 troops in Syria, mostly doing training and advising.
