I would like to point out that a lot of European countries have a very efficient system to collect taxes in the form of a VAT tax. It is like a sales tax so the owner of the money doesn't mind paying it because they can easily pass it on to the customer. An income tax meets more resistance because people, despite what the communist try to tell us, actually do think that that is their money..period. The result is a massive effort to retain as much of it as they can which is why agencies like the IRS are the most ruthless in the world. They know people resist in paying these taxes so bullshit tax collection schemes that violate your rights routinely are devised. Total bullshit but it is reality.

It is true that these countries have a higher tax to GDP ratio but many of these countries also have a lower tax rates than the US. It is what 'conservatives' have been saying for years.
