Trump threatens 'Saturday Night Live' with federal investigation

Lefties are so predictable. They support SNL because they hate the president. The widespread drug use that SNL openly admits as well as the untimely deaths of Belushi and Chris Farley should have prompted a federal investigation. When you factor in the lying about abuse of women by writers like Al Frankin it seems that SNL is overdue for a federal investigation.

Correct. It isn't "conservatives". It's cult followers.

Cult of Personality clearly isn't about political ideologies. It's about personality.
…not to sure about that.

It’s getting to the point where the ideology and the cult have become one in the same.

Indeed, conservatism has been deteriorating into a cult for quite some time, in search of a cult leader – clearly they’ve found that leader in Trump.

OK I'll prove it. Name some conservatives who are not Rump-cultists. There are plenty. Your George Wills, your Jeb Bushes, your Ann Coulters, David Frum, Bob Corker, Susan Collins, Mitt Romney, etc etc etc.

Now name some cultists who aren't fixated on personality.

What I notice is that when said cultists go babbling away about "Democrats" this and "left" that, as soon as I point out it's not about ideology but about character, suddenly the room gets reeeeeal quiet and they run away.
There might be some ‘true’ conservatives left, but they’ve become pariahs and heretics – their version of conservativism outdated and obsolete in the age of rightwing fake news, Fox, ‘alterative facts,’ and Trump.

The conservativism of Goldwater and Buckley was misappropriated decades ago by the social right, religious extremists, and authoritarian ideologues – replaced with reactionary fear and bigotry, jingoistic nationalism, and the angry arrogance of white grievance politics intent on diving the American people.

The likes of Trump becoming the leader of the abomination that is now conservatism was inevitable.

Subjective views of conservatism (or any other ideology) aside, what I'm getting at here is that the Rump-cultists never give "conservatism" as a basis for their Rump worship ---- it's always about emotional hooks. He "trolls". He "upsets". He picks fights. He "drives libtards insane". Ideologically they have no opinion until Dear Leader dictates what they should say.

How much bandwidth have they already splooged on how he "really wasn't mocking a reporter" and "wasn't referring to neo-Nazis as 'very fine people'" and "isn't responsible for the government shutdown". How many times have they already twisted themselves into pretzels finding excuses for Stormy Daniels, Vlad Putin, shoving a prime minister, accusing O'bama of "tapppppppppppppping his wires", "arming teachers", why Mexico is paying for the wall disguised as US taxpayers, and as here, threatening Free Speech.

That all belies a strong emotional investment way more than an ideology. Rump of course has no ideology anyway.
Or Trump cultists give their new version of ‘conservativism’ as the basis for their blind support of Trump.

Remember that Trump was to be the ‘anti-establishment’ candidate – a kind of rightwing Übermensch who would raze the rotting, corrupt Republican/conservative edifice of politics-as-usual, ushering in a New Age of white prosperity and hegemony, nationalistic isolationism, and nativist protectionism.

Trump is the perfect figurehead for this new conservative paradigm: authoritarianism seeking to compel conformity and punish dissent, the despotic ‘strong man’ motif enamored of the likes of Putin and Kim, and the reactionaryism longing for an idealized American past that never actually existed to begin with.

Whatever conservativism was – or was supposed to be – is long gone, replaced with the Trumpian dogma of fear, ignorance, bigotry, racism, and hate.

No, Trump as no ideology – but he doesn’t need one; as a shallow opportunist and con man he needs only play the part of a ‘political reformer’; he certainly conned the media and enough voters in enough of the states that that was the case.

Man, you start off in LaLa land, then shoot off like a rocket into the Twilight Zone!:cuckoo:

All based on the DNC primer for the 2016 campaign. Nothing based in reality.:dunno:

Rump has been diaper-chafing about SNL ever since just after he himself hosted it.

trump-snl-tweet.jpg

--- even telegraphed this "must-squash-free-speech" zombie mantra last month:

Trump-tweet-3.png

--- which also reflects his campaign rhetoric to "open up libel laws so when they write a 'hit piece which is a disgrace' we can sue them like they've never been sued before". Clearly he's looking for a way to squelch all forms of heat he's just too fucking immature to handle while he's standing in the friggin' kitchen.

Obviously the wimp needs to learn how to GROW A PAIR. :gay:

Also doesn't seem to have noticed that last night's SNL was a rerun.

Point of accuracy -- the article from the Daily Mail makes an inaccurate conflation between the Fairness Doctrine and the Equal Time rule... the FD, championed by Republicans panicking about FDR's "Fireside Chats", directed that pointed political speech especially directed at a person, required that person to be awarded a space to respond if they so requested. Joe McCarthy famously used it to respond to Edward R. Murrow's scathing analysis, and CBS gave McCarthy the entire program to respond. The Equal Time Rule says that if a broadcast outlet disseminates a(n umpaid) political endorsement for one side, it has to make available equal time for the other side.

NEITHER of those of course apply to comedy, a human experience Rump seems completely unable to comprehend, which is a hallmark of his Narcissistic Personality Disorder. He has no sense of humor at all. Doesn't understand any kind of interaction unless it's some kind of conflict.

That's what it comes down to --- Rump is the original Snowflake. :gay: Lord God King Supreme Snowflake, snowflakier than which simply does not exist.

With all the lies and libel and columny they post, they need to be held responsible. It's not a free press, it's a corporate/DNC monopolized press.

"Columny" huh? I'll take one from columny A and one from columny B.

This is about comedy, not "the press". But in the greater scope it's about Free Speech. SNL posts no "lies" , no "libel" and ---- I'm pretty sure ---- no "columny".

Actually if you want "columny" you'll have to consult Rump's favorite Holey Babbel chapter, called "Two Corinthians Walk Into a Bar".

You're wrong. They run with outright falsehoods. It is satire, but the real deal goes down on Sunday AMs on NBC with host Chuck Todd.

He got his panties in a wad and dared ask how someone could call him biased. :auiqs.jpg:

Who was that? Oh yeah! That Jewish guy...oh yeah! David Brody.

He owned Chuck Todd. :abgg2q.jpg:

Do you mean that he isn't running a Con? I can see quite a lot of cons involved. In fact, most of his Cabinet are either currently cons or soon to be cons. The Corporations have also figured out a way to give him money to keep the good stuff coming by staying almost exclusively at his hotels at exorbitant rates. The Lincoln Bedroom was a lot cheaper.

Perhaps the situation with Trump is that he has a total misconception of why it is referred to as, "the boob tube"?

"Sunday AMs with Chuck Todd" has zero to do with "SNL". You owe me yet another quarter.

Put it in the "column" with the rest of the Tu Quoques. And tell the class why you're running away from the topic.

I also like how he claims he has a 52% approval rating; when in fact, no poll, not even right-leaning Rasmussen, has him at 52%. He’s completely delirious. :cuckoo:
Trump is completely dishonest.
He even lies about something as stupid as his job approval rating.

He even lies about "Tim Apple".

Maybe he was thinking of Fiona....? Dunno but Marilyn Lockheed must feel better.

SNL has to fend off calls for them to do MORE TRUMP PARODY every week. They are careful to keep the
Trump mockery to a minimum...so as to not appear biased. Trump gets no more mocking than ANY president
before him. But he is the only BITCH to whine about it. And his "fans" are the only bitches to whine about it.

Ya bunch a whiny bitches.
You have to admit...those trump jokes just write themselves.

What's wrong with a federal investigation? SNL babe Kathy Griffin would have been indicted for the severed head stunt if Hussein was president. Then again it wouldn't have happened if Hussein was president.

You'd support spending money on a federal investigation into Saturday Night Live... but you are against spending money to investigate REAL criminals like Manafort and others? Manafort who cheated on his taxes for $21 MILLION dollars? Or an inauguration party that can't account for MILLIONS of dollars, some of which were donated by foreign entities?

You're still "with her" huh?

Bubba, this is 3 years later.

The FEC should investigate all the three-letter networks who read verbatim Democratic Party press releases and call it "news".

Because Democrats have been getting billions of dollars of free advertising for years.

I think you are confused... it was the Pro-Trump company Sinclair Broadcasting that ALL read the same statement on their news casts.

please be careful, this time, what you spout--think first

the guy that want's the Fed Govt to go after a TV show for being mean to the leader of the country...is calling someone else Nazis?

damn dude, I wish you had the IQ to get the irony of your post.
we already know your IQ from the previous F-UP
it is undeniable SNL is biased/unfair/etc--this is NOT American

I don't know what's funnier, SNL's parodies of Trump or Dumb Donald's childish reaction to it.

--- which then feeds the next show. What an easy job for the writers.

My God Mango Mussolini gives them so much material to work with, he MAKES.It so easy for them!
