“Trump will deconstruct the administrative state and part of that is crushing the Deep State” Steve Bannon (nothing inflammatory, no name-calling)

I know that most of them love their country and want what's best for it. They've just been so terribly manipulated by voices they trust that they've gone down the wrong road.
This is also true of many liberals, progressives, and Ds.

It’s the way of the duopoly.

Their general concerns and frustrations are not at all without merit, and I personally agree with many of them. The problem is that the rank & file have been made to feel so desperate that they're willing to throw in with people who have clearly become ideologically radicalized. Bannon is a perfect example.

Identifying a problem and wanting to fix it is one thing. The approach you choose to take to fix it is something else entirely.

I don't think the rank & file has an accurate grasp of the national carnage it's asking for. You can't govern via rage, paranoia and manipulation. Not successfully, anyway. Look to world history. It doesn't end well.

There is nothing wrong with cleaning ups a system. We have turned it into severe politics now.

So if I understand you correctly, and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Your wife worked at FEMA were she retired.
FEMA has fewer employees as they had when she started working there. But a lot of those were in middle management, creating unnecessary jobs?

Your solution is a freezing hire and the firing of superfluous jobs.

I think I have this right?

You aren't suggesting getting rid of FEMA entirely I presume?

If you don't, how do you believe the determination of who stays and goes has to be made. And who brings down the axe.

Mind you, if you can extrapolate your anecdotal experience to the entire agency, I'm not against it. I'm just curious if you have an idea as how to go about it. And if you're hiring freeze wouldn't prevent the agency from doing it's job ( a hiring freeze doesn't just mean middle management, it means people on the ground who quit won't be replaced.)
A hiring freeze along with a following RIF would prevent what happened in my wife's department. An agency would not be able to create positions out of thin air for RIFed employees to be put in.

Most of the excess middle management lateral transferred in from other agencies. Basically they created a position for them as they were already GS 13/14s when they transferred in. Most knew jack and shit about the dept they were sent to. They were totally useless.

Indeed, the wife could track them by their sign-in/sign-off times when they were "working" remote.....They would sign in, then time out after a half-hour or so and that would be the last the wife would see of them all day.....I guess they fudged their own timesheets to get paid.

Now that was just a very small department within FEMA (basically a small debt collection dept) so can you even fathom what goes on throughout the rest of the .gov agencies?

I'm not saying I believe there isn't waste within governmental agencies. In fact, I work in the private sector and I've seen the amount of non-productive positions skyrocket were I work.

I'm just wondering if you have an actual idea as to how to prevent this without hurting the core functions of in your case FEMA?

As I said. It's one thing firing the guy transferred in from the DOJ in debt collection. Quite another to not replace the guy who sets up the emergency office in a disaster.

This is your claim

This is what you said when I tried to get you to explain the difference

If you say there's a difference between the 2. That means you should be able to explain it.

Without a clear understanding of what you're talking about. A conversation becomes impossible.

I'm not above anything. What I refuse to do is let people avoid answering questions. In my experience being vague about the meaning of terms, so you can apply or refuse to apply those terms at need. Is one of the ways people get out of answering.

That's why I want to pin you down on what you mean with "administrative state" and/or "deep state". So that tactic becomes unavailable.

Using an analogy to make a point is a perfectly honest debating strategy, as long as the analogy works.
If you insist on playing childish games do it with your kindergarten buddies.
In this case, it illustrates the need for a clear definition about what you're talking, in order to have an honest conversation.
An honest conversation? You tried to deceive me once regarding your understanding of "an administrative state" and "the administrative state". I don't know how much tolerance you think I have have but it's already been exceeded.

Clearly establishing what you're talking about is childish?

As for tolerance. I've shown you a respect you clearly don't deserve. By directly answering every single premise you posed. Only to be met by one evasion after another.

I don't give a flying fuck if you think it requires "tolerance" to simply define what you mean by something. It's a perfect illustration of intellectual dishonesty anyway.

Are you still here?

It's my thread.

No. It's you who's got the problem.

You have been dishonest, not "me". Consider youself lucky. I haven't put you on ignore yet.
So the answer is, you still can't define the difference between the 2 terms used in the thread title. But it's your thread so why do you actually have to know what it's about lol. You just "know" there is one and that's sufficient.

Brilliant, I have to say.

I wonder.
Why? He was potus for four years and did nothing to limit the DS. He increased war spending every year. He bombed Syria on a lie. He tried a coup in Venezuela and killed an Iranian general in cold blood on a peace mission.

Now we're both happy. You got the last word and I put you on ignore. :eusa_clap:

I would argue with you if I were qualified but there are issues more important than the ones you mention. Actually, I will never be satisfied until Julian Assange is free. If he did that (or if he will do it next term) then I will forgive him for a lot of things. But all said and done I'd vote for Trump in a heartbeat and take up the banner of protest against him on an individual basis.

This is actually hilarious. Whatever will I do without the pleasure of talking to someone starting threads using terms that he can't define? Or apparently doesn't know what the word "last" means. If you're responding you are NOT giving the last word.

Since he's ignoring me this will contain the last word. Now just figuring out what that word should be....I got it. Moron.

(1) I agree with Bannnon. (2) The Deep State is a scourge. (3) This is a deeply troubling time we are living in (4) and it needs to be corrected.

Steve Bannon, the guy who bilked the rubes out of millions for his fake We Build The Wall project.

You have to wonder just how incredibly fucking stupid people have to be to ever trust anything this guy says.

Tucker Carlson, the guy who can't stand Donald Trump and called him a "demonic force" when he was off air who chose ratings over country and pushed the Big Lie which he knew was a big lie.

You have to wonder just how incredibly stupid people have to be to ever trust anything this bread-sniffer says.

Donald Trump, the guy who said he would repeal and replace Obamacare and did not have a replacement, the guy who cheats on three wives and fucks porn stars and steals from cancer kids, the guy who did not bring back coal jobs, the guy who never got close to 4 to 6 percent GDP growth, the guy who submitted the largest government spending bill in history, the guy who said he would eliminate the debt and instead DOUBLED the deficit.

You have to wonder just how incredibly stupid people have to be to ever trust anything this lying evil grifting con man says.

Please. Send these fuckers more of your money. Please. You deserve to be bilked as many times as they wish.
