Trumpers Want To Live in a Third World Country?

Trump never proposed shutting down the press or suspending/eliminating the 1st Amndment. He has only shamed them, and rightly so, for being a propaganda arm of the DNC and Hillary.

Wrong.

Trump threatens to weaken First Amendment protections for reporters
Donald Trump threatens press freedom worldwide
Trump Threatens To End The Freedom Of The Press If He Is Elected President

"Trump doesn’t understand that the First Amendment gives the press protection to publish any information or opinion that they desire. If Donald Trump thinks that the press has published something false about him, he is free to sue for libel. In May, Trump held a press conference where personally attacked members of the media."""

Next illiterate idiot.....
Link 1) Opening up the laws so that you can't hide behind your press credentials to libel someone does no harm to the 1st Amendment.

Link 2) Calling out liars and denying them credentials to your events doesn't no harm to the 1st Amendment

Link 3) Hyperbole is not an argument.

Next illiterate idiot....

He is threatening to change the libel laws. That is despotic and tyrannical.

So you're cheering Trump on in his fight with the press and the New York Times. Do you really understand what you're doing?

The press is protected by the 1st Amendment but besides that fact, you don't want to live in a country where the media and press is suppressed and/or state-run and influenced by our government. There obviously IS government influence already, but it was actually much worse during the invasion of Iraq and "shock and awe". The press did not report the number of civilian casualties when we bombed Baghdad. The video shots were panoramic, not intimate or close ups. The videos were carefully curated. They showed a jubilant Iraqi crowd taking down the statue of Saddam Hussein. No bombed out houses or dead babies. When confronted with this, the spokesman for CNN said they didn't show those pictures because they were "pornographic". (CNN’s Aaron Brown On Coverage of the Anti-War Movement | Democracy Now!) It was as close to a state-run media since JFK brought his mistresses into the White House while Jackie was away.

The press went from lapdog during JFK's administration to watch dog when Nixon tried to lie about his involvement in Watergate. Nixon reawakened the press to what their duty was.

You wingnuts continue to complain that this is a communist/socialist country. Those are the countries that don't have a free press or any press at all.

You want to live in a free, open society then subscribe to a newspaper, any newspaper, digital or hard-copy. They are all more reliable than any internet blog disguised as a news site. Why? Because newspapers can be sued for being wrong and a blogger cannot. It's that simple. (Calif. court says bloggers can't be sued)

Do they get things wrong, of course they do. Especially in a digital age where reporters don't have to just meet a 4:00 deadline, they have to meet a deadline every minute of the day since Ted Turner took television news 24/7 over 25 years ago and the internet gave us instantaneous access, accelerated by Google. So choose your sources carefully, choose several and weigh the information. And for god's sake, stay away from the illegitimate sources that are partisan and just nothing but opinion.

Liberals are so fkn stupid it is beyond amazing .

No. The left-wing propaganda machines should collapse under the weigh of their monumental failure. Good riddance to bad rubbish. We don't just vote at the ballot box, we vote with our pocketbooks.
Yes, collapse as the New York Times is currently in the process of doing. Circulation's been dropping for several years now, ditto advertising revenues, and staff cutbacks are now routine. And all because of their incredible lefty bias in reporting and editorial. The Old Gray Lady and others have no one but themselves to blame for their growing irrelevancy and oncoming demise. Good friggin' riddance!

Donald Trump threatens to sue New York Times over 'irresponsible intent'
In a tweet on Saturday night, the Republican nominee for president wrote: “My lawyers want to sue the failing @nytimes so badly for irresponsible intent. I said no (for now), but they are watching. Really disgusting.”

Media and the press is supposed to keep a non-partisan, hostile eye on government. The press should be viewed as hostile toward government in general.

In the main, they are not doing their job. They are functioning merely as an arm of the Democratic Party. Hence, with few exceptions, they are completely untrustworthy, and the information they impart must be verified in every case.

If what you just said was true, Hillary would have won. [rolling eyes]

He has every right to sue. You simply don't get it either.
Oh, and thanks for confirming our worst nightmare....A POTUS that rules from a Twitter account and his minions take it as fact. Hahahahahaa.....

What do you mean by he "should just let" them? Are you proposing he become a dictator? He doesn't control the press. Can your wrap your fat head around that?

You're too ignorant to see what is wrong with what CNN did, it's yellow journalism

Thanks for posting and linking to verify your comments. The laziness of the righties is profound.
That is your opinion. If someone/Trump was harmed, they can sue for libel. Ask your lawyer husband.

What would you lackies do without emoticons and Twitter? You're already mushrooms who live in the dark and thrive on manure dumped on your heads.

These people are suffering from Stockholm Syndrome. They have been fed lies and propaganda by their Communist captors for so long they cannot cope with the idea of being freed from it. They have bonded with those who were holding them hostage. The very thought of freedom is just too much for them. It's not only sad, it's pathetic!

Well, to continue your analogy, you are the manure and are trying to dump on our heads but you couldn't hit the broadside of a barn from the inside.

There is no first amendment freedom to lie. There is no first amendment protection of slander.
I can't wait for these liars to be held accountable and get hit with a slander suit that puts them all out of business. I hope business owners and others who have been harmed by their hate propaganda bring a class action suit against them for damages. I can see that day coming fast.

I have gone back through this thread and not a single one of you lazy goons has bothered to provide a verifiable source for your comments. Just more fear and loathing from the wingnuts.

Lazy buttheads who want to believe what they think they know. Idiots.

Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

From the First Amendment Handbook
Libel occurs when a false and defamatory statement about an identifiable person is published to a third party, causing injury to the subject’s reputation. Each state creates its own body of libel law, although the First Amendment requires plaintiffs or prosecutors to prove fault before a news organization can be held liable for defamatory communications.

Generally, courts consider six different legal elements in libel cases: the defamatory nature of the communication, how it was published, the truth or falsity of the claims, whether it is "of and concerning" an individual, reputational harm caused and the degree of fault. The defendant in a libel claim also may have specific defenses available, often including anti-SLAPP statutes.
