Trump's Defense: A collection in his own words.

quotes: When Robert S. Mueller III, the first special counsel to investigate Donald J. Trump, concluded his investigation into the ties between Mr. Trump’s 2016 campaign and Russia, his report raised questions about whether Mr. Trump had obstructed his inquiry.

Justice Department officials and legal experts were divided about whether there was enough evidence to show Mr. Trump broke the law, and his attorney general — chosen in part because he was skeptical of the investigation — cleared him of wrongdoing.

Four years after Mr. Mueller’s report was released, Jack Smith, the second special counsel to investigate Mr. Trump, added new charges on Thursday to an indictment over his handling of classified documents, setting out evidence of a particularly blatant act of obstruction.

The indictment says that just days after the Justice Department demanded security footage from Mar-a-Lago, his residence and private club in Florida, Mr. Trump told the property manager there that he wanted security camera footage deleted. If proved, it would be a clearer example of criminality than what Mr. Mueller found, according to Andrew Goldstein, the lead investigator on Mr. Mueller’s obstruction investigation.

Keep trying, little one.

“How can Deranged Jack Smith bring a case on January 6th., as ridiculous as it is anyway, when I have already won such a case, and been fully acquitted, in the U.S. Senate?” Trump asked on his Truth Social website.

“In other words, I was Impeached on this, and WON!!! ELECTION INTERFERENCE & PROSECUTORIAL MISCONDUCT, all rolled up as one. We are truly a Nation In Decline!”
You do realize that Trump wasn't acquitted of the crime, he was not guilty by reason of no longer being in office at the time of the trial.

Which is why from Mitch McConnell to Kevin McCarthy saying that the Senate can't hold Trump accountable because he's no longer president, but that Trump was still liable to criminal and civil litigation.

Biden beat Trump at the polls. He kicked Trump's ass over the moon.

Then Trump tried to overthrow our democracy and that is why his ass is in a sling now.

You don't get to incite a coup and get away with it. Not in a country which believes in the rule of law.

Trump can eat shit and die.

Guilty as charged. Can't wait.

The fact is they don't know what Trump told the property manager.

This is an interesting question Trump posed, worthy of discussion.

This is also an interesting point, worthy of discussion. Except for the "MAGA" quote; all Americans should support that.

This is possibly true. We'll see if Trump is right. Sure looks like it to me.

This is clearly a true statement, IMO.

The Deep State is trying to prevent Trump from ever running for office again. That's indisputable, as the Cheney's even made a political ad which stated such about the Jan 6th hearings when Liz lost re-election big time.

Jack Smith is doing the same.

They need to let Americans decide Trump's fate at the ballot box.

I think that statement is true as well. Biden had classified docs from his time in the Senate! He had no right to possess those (not president, couldn't declassify, no presidential records act applicable.), but he's not been charged, just like all the others.

Regards,
Jim
Given the overwhelming and compelling evidence of Trump’s corruption and criminality, lying is Trump’s only defense.

"FBI search of Mar-a-Lago came after suspicions of withheld materials"

a few quotes and a headline:

F.B.I. Search of Trump’s Home Pushes Long Conflict Into Public View

Justice Department officials were worried that the former president had not fully complied with requests to return material taken from the White House that included possible classified information.

The search carried out on Monday by the F.B.I. at former President Donald J. Trump’s Florida home, a law enforcement action with explosive legal and political implications, was the culmination of a lengthy conflict between a president proud of his disdain for rules and officials charged with protecting the nation’s records and secrets.
On one side were officials from the National Archives, which is responsible for making sure all presidential records are preserved according to the law, and the Justice Department, which some people familiar with the inquiry said had grown concerned about the whereabouts of possible classified information and whether Mr. Trump’s team was being fully forthcoming.

On the other was Mr. Trump, who, in apparent contravention of the Presidential Records Act, had taken a trove of material with him to his home at Mar-a-Lago when he left the White House that included sensitive documents — and then, in the Justice Department’s view, had failed to fully comply with requests that he return the disputed material.
After the investigation bubbled along largely out of public view for months, word that agents had arrived early Monday morning at the gates of Mar-a-Lago with a search warrant raised new questions about Mr. Trump’s vulnerability to prosecution and fueled further partisan division.

Throughout his presidency, Mr. Trump was disdainful of record-preservation laws, and was known to tear up documents and in some cases to flush them down toilets. It is not clear whether he sought to hold onto material sought by the archives and the Justice Department to keep it away from public scrutiny or for some other reason.

A close look at the investigation, though, shows how it has been quietly picking up steam for much of this year, introducing a new element into the questions about Mr. Trump’s varied and intensifying legal problems and his political viability even as he hints at another run for the presidency.

For many months before he left office, Mr. Trump would tell aides to bring documents up to the residence for him while he was in the Oval Office, and they complied, but there was no process in place, meaning that officials whose job it was to keep track of paperwork did not always know exactly what had gone up there, according to people familiar with the events.

You didn't answer my question.

Why should Trump care about the safety of the thugs who raided his home?
